IN Even as life, beginning with the ameba, was evolved in the sea, so children entering kindergarten are changed in school they become graduates. The earliest of the marine organisms were very simple, more elaborate forms developed from this common ancestry. more complex descendents were better equipped to take part in the struggle for survival. The sea is the greatest battlefield of the world. The prime which determine the victor in these great wars are the respective pro- tective measures of each warrior. Many sea animals herd together in schools, for there is safety in numbers. Humans, too, are gre- garious creatures. Wc live in large communities and our school education helps us to live together in a spirit of democracy and tolerance. Tropical fish conceal by means of their brilliant coloring, sharp spikes with which to surpnse their at- tacker. We, too, have armor with wluch to defend ourselves. However, learning, our sword in battle, is a mental rather than a physical quality, an aggressive rather than a defensive weapon. All of these protective measures aid us in the struggle for survival , but even with such attributes, we still have a challenge. Most of the world has been explored. Man has reached the poles and scaled Everest. But, as the sea has not yet been conquered, so have we still to conquer life.
