Niergarth Charles Rife Royster Ring John Silveroli Wilfred Simpson Paul Stevens Don Stratton The Orchestra program is set up to give students the opportunity to know great orchestral works. Classical or symphonic literature of all grades, works of well known composers, and a number of popular and semi-classical works, that are interesting as well as instructive, are included in the orchestra's repertoire. Efforts are under way to increase the orchestra to the full sym- phonic size of eighty pieces. Due to the many double period science classes the membersliip has been small, but the interest is keen. The Junior High School Orchestra sends Shaw many competent players each year. The Orchestra plays at all public functions. The Orchestra par- ticipated in the Armistice Day Program, Class Night, and the Gradua- tion exercises, this year. Proficiency in playing his instrument, outside studying, regular attendance for the year, are necessary for the annual award of a pin given to a member of the Shaw High School Orchestra. page seventy
