-57m Q :3 Ia. .fi C1.f'7'frI. ', I 558 2 I The Shattuck Spectator N its seventeen years of existence the Shattuck Spectator has created for itself a most envious place amonv preparatory school papers. During the last three years the Spectator has won a first and two second prizes in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association contest' and for many years it held very high honors in state and sectional competitions. The Spectator is published weekly throughout the school months for the interest of the cadets and their parents and to serve as a medium whereby that everfincreasing body of Alumni and Old Shads is kept in touch with the school and its work. The articles on athletics probably attract the most attention from the stu- dents while the New Yaps Diary the editorials and the features secure their interest. Therefore the staff must 'be very careful and conscientious in its work for if there is some oversight or an omission some one is sure to complain. Carl Helmholz has performed his task as editor very well. Whether it was easy or difficult he has always manwed to have all the important and interest' ing news in the paper. AS alumni editor Bowen has faithfully secured the alumni news and has made his page one of unccasing interest. Dean as head of the athletic department has kept the paper completely informed with reports of Shattuck athletic activities and their schedules. Me ch R. has also performed well the task of general news editor. The business staff has often been very much underfrated for the amount of work that they really do. It is the husiness staff that secures the large ma' jority of the money needed to run the paper and it is they also who assure its eiicient circulation. Much credit is due them! Much credit is due also to the faculty advisers, without whom it would he difficult to publish such a successful paper THE SPECTATOR STAFF Edttor tn Clue AUGUST C HELMHOLZ Alumnr Editor Athlettc Edttor JESSE W BOWEN 32 MARSHALL H DEAN General News Edttor CHARLES B MEECH 3 Reporters WILLIAM M BALFOUR '42 DAVID A SADLER 1 FREDERICK MEARS 33 ROBERT CRABB Business Manager Cwculatton Manager KELLOCG MOSFLEY LOUIS C MENDELSSOHN Asststant Bustness Manager Asststant Cwculatron Manager JOHN E HEWITT ZZ WILLIAM L MARTIN 3 Faculty Commzttee MR C' R KINGHAM MR H W ROWSE MR F H BELOW JR DR N M PLETCHER N. w 1 .........,...................-....,......,-....... . yt .. . .,.,,,,,,,c.,,,,.,. , ...aa - .f .. . . ..
