SE NIOR HIST ORY As the doors of the Ruthven School swung open that sxxth day of September of 1937 mneteen boys and girls found thexr desks m the flrst grade room under the direction of Mlss Bryan They were Robert Aldrzch Loxs Ann Rauhauser Fern Shaw Peggy Larson Shxrley Mxller Kathleen Krrens Lavonne Maxden George Nolon Melvm Wlshman Betty Lou Smxth Donald Krukow Barbara Sxm onson John Cedarholm Willard Giles Henry Malden Dean Hughes Norman Nelson Betty Gleason and Nancy Taylor Our teacher m the second grade was Miss McDonald This year we wel comed to our class Weldon Damels and Arthur Clark Robert Aldrlch and Kathleen Krlens left us Our tlurd year was under Mxss Eloise Sauer and we gamed six new members Eugene Jackson Kerth Spres Lee Wells Tommy Mason Sh1r1ey Saeuglmg and Edzth Crawl We lost Lavonne Maxden Melvm Wzshman and Arthur Clark Th1s year a grade operetta entitled Sunny of Old Sunnyslde was presented Our fourth year an school was under Mass lvlarze Johnson We lost sxx stu dents Betty Gleason Fern Shaw Weldon Damels Eugene Jackson Lee Wells and Edith Crawl An all school musical was presented th1s year and some of the members of our class took part The hfth grade teacher was Mass El1zabethuTuff1n Thls year Mlldred Schnell Darlene Roland Betty Gleason and Marlon Snyder joined the group We lost Keith Sples and Kenneth Krukow Miss Dorothy Underwood was our teacher m the slxth grade We gamed two students Edward Conway and Mary Jean Jackson Dean Hughes moved to Lake Center ln March of thls year Our seventh grade was under Mrs Hazel Logan We lost Betty Lou Smlth Edward Conway and Mary Jean Jackson Dean Hughes returned to Ruthven m March of this year and rejomed our class Mrs Hazel Logan was our ezghth grade teacher Because the hxgh school buzldmg had been destroyed by fare on July 5 1944 we went to school m the Meth grade Betty Gleason and Barbara Sunonson txed for salutatorlan The nmth grade students were Rxchard Clasmg John Eckley Wrllard G1les Raymond Goddard Dean Hughes Elwyn Mason Tom Mason Norman Nelson George Nolon Vergene Rosewall Wayne Hansen Donald Chrxstxan Kathleen Cole man Joan Garrelts Ardxss Hynes Peggy Larson Flora Jean Peglow Shzrley Mzller Lozs Ann Rauhauser Darlene Roland Shxrley Saeuglmg Mrldred Schnell Barbara Slmonson Betty Wxlhs and Nancy Taylor Our teachers were Mr Leslie J Cronwall Mxss Irma Davldson Mrs lvhldred Largey Nlrs Nora Trlpp Mr Donald Evans andMr Erlmg Hansen Merrxll Anderson entered the Sophomore Class and we also welcomed Betty Gleason back to our class We lost Wlllard Gxles Flora Jean Peglow Joan Garrelts Wayne Hansen and Donald Chnstlan Thxs year our teachers were Mr Leshe J Cronwall Mxss Irma Davzdson Mr Sherwood Rowlands Mrs Nora Trzpp Mrs Mildred Largey Mr BertKruse and Mr Donald Hahn Then came one of the two best years of hugh school the Jumor year Thzs was the year of many events F1rst of all the Jumor Class Play The Tangled Yarn was presented October 16 1947 The cast consxsted of Shxrley Saeuglxng Kathleen Coleman Mildred Schnell Tommy Mason Barbara Sunonson Betty Willis Ardxss Hynes and Vergene Rosewall It was under the dxrectxon of Mrs Evah Skaar Next was the Jumor Semor Banquet held April 15 at the Tangney Hotel at Spencer Dor1s Jensen joxned our class Loxs Ann Rauhauser and Kath leen Coleman left us Our teachers were Mr C S Mayhew Mr Donald K 14 . .
