The Panther cagers, in a 42 to 13 victory over Cumberland, proved that nobody in Class A football does it better. Led by coach of the year, Ken Barrett, the Panthers dominated the second half, scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter and bringing home the second state championship in four years. They compiled a 13-1 record, making 1983 the winningest season in Russellville football history.

As part of Homecoming Week, the Junior and Senior girls faced the Freshman and Sophomore girls in the annual Powderpuff game. The game didn’t have all the technique of the boys’ game, but the girls played just as hard and gave it all they had. The first half saw little scoring, but the Jr. Srs turned on in the second half and won it 22-6. 9
