J— oiling Hills ' varsity basketball players r ended only one win short of what they wanted when the number one ranked team lost to Saugus in the CIF championship game. However, it was still the most successful season ever for the Titans. They were seeded number one in the CIF Division 3-A pre-season poll and never relinguished that status until the Big game at the Sports Arena in March, in each tournament and league game, as well as the playoffs, the Titans were under immense pressure to win. RH had begun its season by winning the Pacific Shores Tourney. In league play, they won the Bay League title by defeating every opponent. They swept PV in league play for the third year in a row. Seniors Doug Gehr, Mike Peretti, Cam Terry, Greg Thomas, and Trent Warren took the Titans to the champion- ship, farther than any previous RH team. Under the inspiring leadership of senior captains, Tim Africano and Tom Cantine, the Varsity team con- sisted of senior Glen Chase; juniors Jason Aro, Ian Berman, Joe Marckx, and John McKivett; and the sophomores Robert Johnsen and Scott Ordway. Paced by top runner John McKivett, the Titans fought hard in both victory and defeat, as they did remarkably well this season. The sophomore team finished first in Bay League following an exceptional season of individual and team play. The junior varsity also showed off their talents and strength as they finished second. ?
