Xvithout the invatuahte support of our friends and advertisers it would he very dithcutt for the Rio Vista High School to publish an annuat. The Nethertands,H made possitnte hy its advertisements, pro- motes hetter schoot spirit and more friendly putntic feeiing and interest-it is a bond between the community and the schoot. ivtost of the advertisers in the HNethertandsH are faithtut supporters ot tong standing. Qur patrons are interested not onty in the group now going to schoot, hut also in the ever increasing atumni rott. tn return for their tast- ing interest, the schoot has tried to repay its friends hy graduating good Ameri- can citizens. Some of our students continue their education through cottege, and others are trained in practicat trades to take their ptaces immediately in the community. A few of our graduates are now working for our advertisers and some have become advertisers themsetves. This yearys annuat has en- deavored to express the gratitude which the schoot teets for the contributors who have votuntarity assumed a co-operative interest in our undertakings. Not only the active students hut atso the interested friends and atumni Witt derive pteasure from reading this annuat. Therefore in sincere appreciation ot their interest, we, the HNethertandsH start, wish to dedicate the 1Q111 annuat to our advertisers.

We vd n an ettort to preserve for our own future pteasure the events ot the past year, we, the class of 1941, A. D., have borrowed some ideas from the progressive cavemen of perhaps 1941 B. C., and are recording our achieve- ments pictoriatiy. A Although it is douhtfui that cavemen had schools, it is certain that they progressed. Had there heen no progressive cavemen, there would not have been the advantages and luxuries which we today have. XV e would not have the many scientific developments had the cavemen not investigated ohiects that puzzled them. Xve would not have many conveniences had not the cavemen constantly improved their implements. hftany ot their discoveries are said to have heen accidental, hut it took progressive cavemen to take advantage of them. XVC do today many of the things which the cavemen did, not in as crude a manner, hut we do them. Giris now sew soft siilcs and iinens instead of tiger stcinsg are as proud of divinity fudge and cream puffs as their pre- decessors were of crudely roasted rahhitg paint and draw on canvas and fine paper rather than carve and dig on Hat stone watts. XV hat strides our hoys have made in farming and mechanics'-no ionger satished with one row of shriveiied corn and a sharp stone hoe, school hoys compete with their elders and frequently win coveted awards. T hat modern hoys and giris play, as wett as work, is shown hy their enthusiastic participation in track events, games, and dances, some of which coutd Weil he said to have sprung from cavemen precedents. Fields of endeavor have widened, and todayys youth has risen to meet the challenges of the changing World.
