YOUTH LEADERSHIP The Youth Leadership Committee is under the direction of Mr. Hash. George Lewis served as President and Joanne Paulon served as Secretary. Their main activity is to recognize outstanding Juniors and Seniors of Renton. Their decisions are based on the student's rating in five different fields: ll schol- astic, 25 leadership, Sl citizenship, 45 service, and 53 future promise. The top six students are then interviewed by the Rotary Club and iudged on their performance. The Youths of the Month meet every Thursday for luncheon with the Rotary Club. Here is one place where students are allowed to blow off a little steam, in an order- ly manner of course. These students, under the guidance of Mr. Kirk, meet with various other schools during the year and carry on formal debates. 119

The students of D.E.C.A, participate in Retail Selling class tor two hours a day. They study distribution and learn how to assemble building displays. The biggest class project during the year is the making ot merchandise manuals by the in- dividual students. Club i3 was headed by Lill Hansen, Chuck Wiehott, Judy Maher, and Ray Martin, ln the tall and spring ot the year selected students attend the D.E.C.A. conference tor outstanding business students.
