YOUTH LEADERSHIP The Youth Leadership Committee is under the direction of Mr. Hash. George Lewis served as President and Joanne Paulon served as Secretary. Their main activity is to recognize outstanding Juniors and Seniors of Renton. Their decisions are based on the student's rating in five different fields: ll schol- astic, 25 leadership, Sl citizenship, 45 service, and 53 future promise. The top six students are then interviewed by the Rotary Club and iudged on their performance. The Youths of the Month meet every Thursday for luncheon with the Rotary Club. ROW 'la Susan Larnberf, Linda Sfrahan. ROW 2: Hank DeJong, LeRoy Wise, John Bunch. DEBATE If you like to argue, ioin debate. Here is one place where students are allowed to blow off a little steam, in an order- ly manner of course. These students, under the guidance of Mr. Kirk, meet with various other schools during the year and carry on formal debates. 119

ROW 3: Jim Connell, John Gaborit. PEP BAND lt you are the kind that enjoys hearing loud, lively music, the ton. They turn out tor every basketball game and never Pep Band is tor you. To quality tor membership you must be tail to make the audience iust a little bit more peppy, This able to play and you must be a male student at Renton. The group, under the direction ot Mr. Randall Rockhill, also boys played tor all, almost all, the musical occasions at Ren- played tor the Winter Band Concert in January. The students of D.E.C.A, participate in Retail Selling class tor two hours a day. They study distribution and learn how to assemble building displays. The biggest class project during the year is the making ot merchandise manuals by the in- dividual students. The otticers tor the three clubs this year were: Club iii - President, Rod MacKenzie, Vice President, Pete Peterson, Sec., ROW 'lz Judy Eggers, Arleen Peterson, Sandy Campbell, Jean Addleman Jean Thompson, Gerri Mattila, Ted Williams. ROW 2: Frank Gleason Berton Goodrich, Jack McLaughlin, Bob Spain, Linda Ramsay, Rita Barei f 1 Diane Wolte, Reporter, Ron Finne, Historian, Muriel Hash, Parliamentarian, Tom Blanchette. In Club Q52 the otticers were, Mike Nickels, Floyd Hughs, Jean Thompson, Judy Eg- gers. Club i3 was headed by Lill Hansen, Chuck Wiehott, Judy Maher, and Ray Martin, ln the tall and spring ot the year selected students attend the D.E.C.A. conference tor outstanding business students.
