SPIROA PAPPAS by Laura Bembenek MICHELLE BECKER Have you ever thought what it would be like to ride down a sandy beach. or up a dirt covered hill - in a dune buggy? Michelle Becker did. and decided to make this one of her hobbies. Michelle recalls the first time she started to show an interest in dune buggies. She was in her sophomore year at Reavis. I976. My brother first wanted to buy one Idune buggyl. When he finally did, I drove it and really liked it. Although Michelle enjoyed the dune buggie. it wasn't until six months later. that she first began to think about buying one. She purchased a yellow Odyssey. made by Honda. The only place Michelle has found to drive her Odyssey is out in Joliet, where her brother lives. Here is where she goes and rides for her own enjoyment. Today. two years later. Michelle is still driving her Odyssey. Her future plans include two major steps. . l'd like to sell my Odyssey. she explained. and buy a bigger. better one - for rac- ing. Michelle said once she has a new dune buggy. she would like to go to Springfield to race it. Her next big change after that is a motorcycle. l'd love to buy a motorcycle. but my parents won't let me.
