SEASON SUMMARY With two starters from last year, Bill Blair and Jim Guyg Jack Luck, up from the second teamg and two new boys, Zeke Myers and Sam Cooksey, Coach McFall had high hopes for the Yellow Jackets this season. The two pre-Christmas games proved to be only a warm-up for what was to come. After returning from vacation the team had only five days of work to prepare for Mercershurg. This proved to be plenty of time, for we downed them and Fishburne in fine style. Woodberry Forest is a black name in the minds of all of us. The team went to Woodberry the day following the Fishburne game and met with our first and only defeat. The Jackets made a point then and there to go the rest of the Way undefeated. St. Christopher-is gave us a run or our money in an overtime thriller that had our hearts in our throats. Next up was Epis- copal. We had a bone to pick with the Maroons and defeated them before a large pro-RMA crowd. Again we met the Saints, this time at home and they proved to be no match for us in our gym. Over we went to Massanutten to defeat them on their court for the first time in the coachis memory. Next trip was to VES, followed by Augusta and R-MC, all of which helped the Jackets prove their mettle. Our next home game was one we had been waiting for. The Foresters tried to overthrow the Jackets and were thwarted much to our satisfaction. This game was the determining factor in the league race, and our winning guaranteed us the crown. Massanutten gave us the closest game we had this year. Au- gusta and Fishburne were again turned back, bringing us to our last game. With music and 'cjinigern we handed out our sixteenth defeat to Mercersburg. So ends the story of the most successul basketball season in the history of the school. A story made possible by a spirited, skilled, and well-coached team and a powerful backing by the student body.
