NORMAN FRANKLIN Norm Franklin, commonly known as Star” has been one of Portsmouth High School’s best known athletes. On the football field, playing the position of halfback, he has worked long hours to help the team to achieve an undefeated season in his senior year. Norm has also been an important member of the basketball team throughout his sophomore, junior, and senior years. His personality has gained him many friends of both seniors and underclassmen. As president of the junior class, he was an excellent organizer and succeeded in arousing enthusiasm among his classmates to work for the benefit of all. His ambitious efforts made it a success. The class of 69 wishes him a fruitful and prosperous future. VICKY HARTMANN Throughout high school Vicky has proven herself to be a valuable asset to the class of 69”. As a junior and senior, she has been a vital member of our cheering squad, serving as co-captain for two years. She has been an active member of the Executive Board helping with many school functions. Academically, Vicky has excelled and has merited a standing in the National Honor Society. She was welcomed in her senior year as one of the co-editors of the Legend which required diligent and time consuming work. We of the class of 69” are sure Vicky will continue to do well in whatever she encounters. 65

MICHAEL DIMATTEO DEBORAH DUGAN Debbie has indeed proven herself as one of the most outstanding seniors in our class. She has engaged herself in several activities throughout the past four years. Debbie has been an active member of the Modern Dance Club since her sophomore year and served as secretary of the club in her junior year. Her intelligence has gained her recognition in the National 'Honor Society throughout her high school years. She has been a strong supporter of school activities and has worked on various committees helping the class strive to reach its ultimate goals, including her hard work on the yearbook. As one of the tri captains of the cheerleading squad, she livened the crowd’s spirit in cheering our teams to victory. Success and happiness in the future are extended to Debbie. Ever since Mike first came to Portsmouth High, he has worked extremely hard to achieve success for the class of 1969. He became involved in many school activities and soon became known as a “man of action . In his junior year Mike was elected homeroom president and served faithfully on Student Council. As president of the Senior Class one of his first tasks was to make Homecoming of '68 a success. He did his job well — it was a very impressive event. The class of '69 would like to thank Mike and wish him continued success. 64

KAREN RODRIGUES Many seniors will be remembered after graduation and Karen Rodrigues is certainly at the head of the list. Her involvements in extracurricular activities have been many and included is the American Field Service. Karen has been a member throughout high school and was secretary during her sophomore and junior years. She is a member of the National Honor Society and was the treasurer in her junior year. Outside of school she is known for her outstanding 4 H work and her work on the staff of the Young Rhode Islander. The senior class of 69” wishes Karen luck in the coming years. PATRICIA STINTON Pat has served her class extremely well in the past four years. One of her activities is her membership in the Girl’s Athletic Association. She became a member after playing many intermural games of volleyball, basketball, and badminton. Pat’s energetic personality as a cheerleader has enlivened the spirit of the student body at P.H.S. Her performance in the sophomore .class play, Stranger in the Night,” added to its success. Her participation with regard to senior activities has been tremendous, for Pat was in charge of our class trip as well as the treasurer of the class. She has put much effort and time into activities and fund raising events to help make our class a success. She has also spent many hours working on the Legend so that it too could be a success. Pat’s hard work throughout her high school years are sure to bring her success. Good luck, Pat! 66
