Peace is not a passive condition but an active thing. It is not the outgrowth of each nation working for itself alone, but comes only from cooperation, collaboration, adjustment, from working together. The future of the world will be shaped as much from the atti- tudes of the people as by the decisions of their leaders. Where can we learn to develop attitudes which will bring us and the world the peace so priceless, so vital? - in the family, around the supper table, by the fireside, in the school room, at our churches, in our clubs - wherever two people meet. We must learn that peace can- not come to one living and working alone. Reduced to its simplest form, peace may be termed friendship.
