They have- attended football games, basketball games, and wrestling meets. They have kept smiles on their faces although we were not always victorious. Our younger cagers under the leadership of Breon Lauderbach completed their games with a 3-7 record. The Rams played Chief Logan at home, losing the first game 39-16. Then the Rams tried hard, but the Mingoes won a well-fought game 36-33. We are assured by Penns Valley's junior high branch of sports that we will have a firm foundation for years to come. 85

Posting the first winning varsity season in any sport in Penns Valley's short history, the Ram grapplers showed a marked improvement over the preceding year in recording a 5-3-1 log. Coach -Humphreys has turned out a team of which Penns Valley can be proud. A tough State College team whitewashed the Rams in the season's opener, 46-0. Several of the bouts were close including Lee Wolfe's 4-2 loss to State Champ Dick Tressler and Dougie Reider's 3-2 loss to strong Gene Tressler. Bellefonte handed us a 39-13 decision in which Zerby wrestled well in scoring a third period fall. Moshannon Valley was the victim of the Rams first win by a 29-15 count. Dean Rossman and Ernie Lucas showed good wrestling ability as Rossman downed his foe by a fall and Lucas easily picked up a 5-0 decision. Traveling to Moshannon Valley for our second meet with the Black Knights, Dave Homan's fall proved to be the turning point in our 30-18 win. Picking up an extra meet with jersey Shore, we fought the Bulldogs to an exciting 22-22 stalemate. Curt Bierly, Forrest Snare, and Roy Blair wrestled well as Bierly defeated previously undefeated Gary Decker 7-3. Snare handily downed his opponent 7-0 and Blair held his contestant to a 2-2 draw. Junior Hook showed a lot of spirit and ability in pinning his larger opponent to help secure a 29-16 win over Chief Logan. Winning 7 of 11 bouts, Bald Eagle downed the Rams 31-11, Dougie Reider fought undefeated Tim Gates to a 2-2 draw. Aided by good performances by Brown, Don Rudy, Ream and Corl we moved past Sugar Valley's Canemen 25-18. Brown worked 2 reverses before he fell into one. Rudy looked good in recording a 6-2 win, Ream, moving up to 138, worked well before being pinned, and Corl dominated his foe in winning a 7-0 decision. FIRST ROW: Dave Brown, Forrest Snare, Dean Rossman, Ronnie Ream, Lee Wolfe, Dougie Reider, Dennis Zerby, Larry Anderson.
