W. C. A. Cabinet. The present Freshman Cabinet is the fourth of its kind at Penn State. It is organized on the same basis as the Senior Cabinet, having the same number of members, the same oihcers, and doing similar work on a smaller scale. lt is sponsored by a member of the Senior Cabinet. This year the sale of 'Christmas Cards and a gift edition of '4One Hundred and One Best Poemsn was substituted for the annual Christmas Bazaar given by the Y. W. C. A. This work was done by the Freshman Cabinet. After Christmas a discussion group was the principal feature of their work. In this way the girls are trained for future positions of greater responsibility on the Senior Cabinet. 481

As a member of the national Y. W. C. A. our Penn State association wishes to live up to this objective. Campus problems play a great part in the activity of this organization. During Freshman Week many girls come back to help the new girls to become acquainted with one another and to make them feel at home in their new surroundings. In June of each year a delegation of Penn State girls attends the intercollegiate conference of the Y. W. C. A. at Eagles Mere. Here the problems of campus life are discussed and ideas are ex- changed. 'The girls return enthusiastic, realizing that the work is worth while and ready to make personal sacrifices for it. Besides several concerts at the College and out-of-town trips, it combines with the Men's Glee Club in presenting' programs. The Girls' Glee Club furnishes entertainment on various occasions, including the Old English Christmas Party and the May Day celebration. The members assist in the carol-singing around the Christmas tree on the campus, and they also go caroling early in the morning on the day before Christmas vacation begins. During past years the glee club has been assisted by the Girls, Varsity Quartet, but due to in. sufficient material the quartet was discontinued this year.
