Football Queen The crowning of the football queen by the football captain, Donald Poling, was held on Saturday, October 17, at the Osnaburg Township vs. Middlebranch game. An attendant was chosen by each room on the basis of popularity, with the exception of the Senior Class, who elected two. The final selection of the queen was Cast by members of the football squad. The Juniors were fortunate enough in having the queen, Florence Yoerns. chosen from their midst. The two Seniors, Margaret Kolm and Jean Wanner: a sophomore, Ruth Dyerg and a freshman. Virginia Motts, composed the re- mainder of the royal entourage. The girls were attired in sport suits. Florence carried a bouquet of large white chrysanthemums tied with a blue and gold ribbon and her attendants wore corsages. That night a party was given in their honor with the queen presiding as guest of honor with her attendants surrounding her. The party ended a day of successful activities. 24 The 1943 Echo
