Editor' s F arewell Everyday People includes everyone at Norwalk High, from the radical to the conservative. The staff of the 1970 El Lancero has tried to include all groups on campus. For the Seniors, these past four years have gone by fast, We came to this campus in 1966 as Freshmen. The Girls' League had a Big Sister Day to welcome the girls. The A.S.B. Cabinet had an Orientation Day the Friday before school started. The Cabinet consisted of Pat Schwerdtefeger-Presidentg Bob By- water-Vice-Presidentp Roxanne Scott-Secretaryg Dick Blankenship-Treasurer, Martha Able-Historian, and Tina Romero-Director of Activities. Then we held our first election for class officers. President-Andy Halsey, Vice- President-Bill Elsonp Secretary-Debbie Chouler, Treasurer- Cindy Lucerog Historian-Margo Hashimura. The 1966-67 Homecoming Queen was Margo Brown. The Drill Team's Lavender and Lace announced their queen, Sheri Zinnen. Miss Photogenic was Sandy Morris. Our second year opened with Gary Smuts as the Student Body President, Mike Eshom-Vice-Presidentg Theresa Di- Mario-Secretary, Ruth Paulino-Treasurer, Debbie Du- satko-Historian, and Debbie Wilkins-Director of Activities. Our class officers were Andy Halsey-Presidentp Sharon I Popp-Vice-Presidentp Beverly Hartt-Secretaryp Debbie Choulder-Treasurer, and Lorraine Contreras-Historian. Angelika Storm, from Northern Germany, was our foreign exchange student. We had George Sharp, hypnotist, as a special guest at an assembly. Debbie Dustako was crowned as the 1967-68 Homecoming Queen. The Lavender and Lace Queen was Carol Pickrell. Becky Messner was Miss Photogenic. Our Junior year started out with a new principal, Mr. Beckett, Mr. Beckett. Louie Albidrez was A.S.B. President, Working with him was Patty Tsubakawa-Vice-President, Sue Masseth-Secretary, John Eshom-Treasurer, Sharon Popp-Historiang and Pat Blaesser-Director of Activities. Our class officers had a tough year. They planned the Howdy Hop and the Prom held at Lakewood Country Club. The officers were: Charles Silverthorne -Presidentg Margo Hashimura-Vice-Presidentg Janet Rico-Secretaryp Janice Grabek-Treasurer, and Su- zanne Anderson-Historian. Our foreign exchange student, Jonna Rabjerg, was from Denmark. Lynn Bottema was crowned Homecoming Queen. The Lavender and Lace crowned Lynn Anderson as queen. Lorraine Schmidt was Miss Photogenic. Our Junior year was also a great year for sports. The Varsity basketball team went to C.I.F., but was defeated by Compton on NBC TV. Finally our Senior year came. Don Tayenaka was our Presidentg Beverly Hartt-Vice-Presidentp Debbie Chou- ler-Secretaryg Virgina Moscou-Treasurerg and Debbie Amaro-Historian. The Student Body Cabinet had Andy Halsey as Presidentg Suzanne Anderson-Vice-President, Bob Casarez-Treasurerg Janice Grabek-Sec- retaryg Diane Masseth-Historiang and Jeannette Fredrick-Director of Activities. The foreign exchange students this year were: Roberto Manglapus, Philippines, Petra Schwerdtfeger, Ger- many, and Cristina Belchior, from Rio De Janeiro. The Impossible Dream was the theme of the Homecoming. Chosen as Queen was Debbie Atkinson. The Drill Team chose Raindrops and Roses as the theme of the Lavender and Lace. Diane Masseth was crowned queen. Miss Photogenic was Cindy Lucero. The Grand Hotel was the scene for the Prom. The final moments came at Excelsior Stadium for graduation. To end up the four years was the all-night-party held at Pickwick Park. It is my wish that these four years at Norwalk High have provided a stepping stone for a better future.
