We the Senrors ofMuldrow l-hgh School wrsh to leave a memory of our past wrth the under classmen We have spent four short years rn Muldrow Hrgh memorres of them wrll last through our future We are now leavrng the protectron of our dear hrgh school to go rnto the world to contrnue our educatron rn schools of hrgher learnrng or rn the school of experrence We hope to be successful crtrzens of Amerrca In Sept 1948 we entered Muldrow as Freshmen A total of srxty students made up thrs class of whrch we were very proud Durrng thrs eventful year Joan Mrtchell was our class presrdent Mrss Betty Bryant and Mrss Dorothene Mabray were our Sponsors Whlle we only got a taste of hlgh school that year we had many happy trmes together The followmg year we enrolled as Sophomores wrth 12 less than we had started wrth as Freshmen Most of these had moved away Four new classmates jorned us that year They were Nlargre Faulkner from Mrssourr Mrckey Rust from Tahlequah Faustrne Lee from Calrfornla and Joyce Benge from Sallrsaw Bxlly Shackelford was our class pres1dent Mr Brlly Joe Wllhams and Mr Roy E Hopprs were our sponsors Thls year rs well remembered by fabulous events Our Musrc Drrector Mrs Monta Frost took the Grrls and Boys Quartett to Poteau to attend the Noble Cam Festrval The school year 1950 found 38 jolly Junrors makrng therr way through school The ones lost had been jorned rn matrrmony Durrng th1s year Glen Whrtmer was our class pres1dent and Mr Gllstrap and Mr Blackard were our Sponsors Our Iunror year was frlled wrth excrtement In Aprrl most of us accompanred by our Musrc Drrector Mrs Jane Metz agarn attended the Musrc Festrval at Poteau that year we were fortunate enough to get to partrcrpate The hrghlrght of thrs year was week end trxp At 4 o clock one Frrday mornrng rn May we were on our way to Tulsa Claremore and Grand Lake on a b1gJun1or trrp We vrsrted the Tulsa zoo and park where we enjoyed a prcnrc lunch After lunch we went to downtown Tulsa to hear Johnny Lee Wrlls and hrs band play for therr noon broadcast At 3 o clock we assembled at the bus to contrnue our trrp Our next destxnatron was Claremore Here we vrsrted the Wrll Rogers Memorral Thrs was the frrst vxsrt for most of us and we were greatly fascrnatedl' The burldrng rnterror tomb and landscaprng were marvelous Our only regret was that we could not spend more ume there Leavrng Claremore at 5 o clock we drove on to Grand Lake stopprng only once at Vrnrta to eat supper When we arrrved at Grand Lake a few of us took a rrde on the motor boat then later all of us went for a two hour crurse on the boat Cherokee Queen Although rt was very cold II was qurte enjoyable We arrrved home from thrs excrtrng trrp at 4 o clock Saturday mommg trred but happy Two weeks later we took the Senrors on the annual Junror and Senror prcnrc We went to Greenleaf Lake for a chrcken supper and on to Muskogee to attend a movre The cooxng of love brrds was certarnly evxdent on that trrp and everyone declared rt was the happrest trme we had had September 1951 SENIORS' ' ' ' ' Thrrty one Senrors enrolled at Muldrow Hrgh Kenneth Ragge from Cedervrlle Ark and Ewell Dean Collms from Okataha Jorned our class Ewell was one of our former classmates At our frrst class meetrng we elected these offrcers Glen Whrtmer Presrdent Bxlly Ray Shackelford Vrce Presrdent Brllre Sue Brown Sec Treas Ott Lee Rogers Sgt at arms and Jean Anne Blaylock and Margaret Condren Reporters Mrss Addye Gunter and Mr Melvrn Ross were selected as our Sponsors. 1 1 ' , . . , , . . , . At the begrnnrng of thrs year M1ss Gunter and Mr Ross gave a party for us at Mrss Gunter s home A few were unable to attend they certamly mrssed a good trme That nrght Ewell Dean learned for the frrst ume to play old fashroncd post offrce Lew Wentz was the letter About two weeks after the begrnnrng of school we ordered our Graduatron announcements The Senrors assrsted by the Junrors gave the frrst assembly program of thrs school year lt was a hrlarrous success' ' ' We would l1ke to rnform everybody that Sammy rs no longer chasrng hrs thumb Thrs year we also assumed the responsrbrlrty of publrshrng the School Paper School Buzzer Ewell Dean Collms was grven the honor of berng edltor 1n chref Thrs he handled qurte capably The Halloween Carnrval proved to be the most successful ever held at Muldrow School Senrors Audra Prewett jean Anne Blaylock Glen and Clem Wh1tmer and Sammy Lasrter put on the play Call Hector All proved to be talented actors and actresses B1lly Joe Jenkrns a talented Master of Ceremonres kept thrngs hummmg Lew Wentz Stamps Mlckey Rust and Margaret Condren entertarned wrth the song On Top of Old Smoky They were accompanled by the stung band composed of Ewell Collrns W1ll1s Powell Brlly Shackelford and Donald LaBass The proceeds from the Carnrval helped boost the funds ID all hrgh school treasurres On the day before school was drsmrssed for the Chrrstmas l-lolrdays Mrss Gunter and Mr Ross gave us a party durrng Mr Ross s BOOKKEEPING CLASS We had a great trme especrally those takrng bookkeep rng If the truth were known I 11 bet Mr Ross was just as happy as we Ianuaryl 1952 found all Senrozs hard at work Lrterature was keeprng us pretty busy We found Macbeth very rnterestmg and enjoyable rn spots however rt seemed a lrttle deep for us Mrss Gunter was very patrent and understandrng when we appeared most hopeless and I belreve some of us uncovered much of Shakespeare s good and sound phrlosophy Our eyes are now lookrng far rnto the comrng days when we wrll get to make the trrp to Poteau take our Sen1or trrp have our Senror and Junror Prcnrc and last but not least our happy but somewhat sad graduatron exercrses We are gomg to mrss our hrgh school days more than we realrze, but we want to say to the ones who are to come after us We srncerely hope that you wrll enJoy your years of hrgh school work as much as the SENIORS OF 1952 . , , . . , . , . . s 1 - - ' ' ' 1 1 1 ' ' - ' ' s. , 1 , . . . 5 6 . , . ,, . . . . . . .
