This, the annual magazine sales contest, produced very rewarding returns, with about 5070 of the Sl, 500 Worth of sales being added to the class treasury. Two recreational activities Were also on the agenda for the second semester. One was a swimming party held for the sophomore class alone. The other was a skating party in Cedar Rapids with the tenth graders selling tickets to the remaining high school students. The purpose of the magazine contest and the latter was to obtainmoney for such future projects as Junior-Senior Prom and the future senior trip.

The class has done a number of things, including giving a dance in honor of Sally Carnahan, who left Mt. Vernon for Lamont, Iowa, inFebruary. A swimming party was the climax of a good year, and We Wish to thank all the upperclassmen for the good times We have had.
