The fast-balling Hytinen gave up but two hits in the encounter struck out 12 and walked four while holding the opposition score- ess. Ron Dodge on the mound for Townsend pitched quite well too. He was reached for but two hits fanned four and passed four. Hytinen Barry Tikka and Stu Dodge had the winners safeties Bob Wilson and Tony Gonsales the THS bingles. Lunenburg had two double plays 'the last started by Catcher Tikka who threw out a base runner at lthird base to end the game. ' Lunenburg had a single run in the first inning and two more in the fourth. There were two errors in the fray both by Townsend. Wachusett League Lunenburg Unbealen, Wrns Title LUNENBURG June 7 The Lu nenburg High School baseball team won the 1958 Wachusett League championship by defeating Acton 10 to 2 in the fmal game of the loop playoff yesterday afternoon The winners completed a 15 game unbeaten season as Western D1v1s ion titlist by coppmg two straight from the Eastern victor The locals whipped Acton 8 to 1 in the opening tilt of the best two ies last Thursday in Acton Johnny Beaulac tossed a two hit ter at the visitors while his mates collected a total of 17 bmgles Beau lac walked three and struck out 10 Norm Duren started for the losers and was touched for nine hits passed two and wlffed two He gave way to Jim Flannery in the sixth. Flannery gave up eight hits walked one and fanned one. Stu Dodge had a triple and single Beaulac a double and single Barry Tikka Emoiy Merrill Pete Peter- son and Dick Ekstrand two singles each. Ed Hytinen Skip Rollins Ted Woodbury and Paul Porter con- tributed singles. Bob Gould and Dick Cornelier connected for the only hits by the visitors both singles. Lunenburg scored three runs in the second inning and added four each in the fourth and fifth frames to win handily. Acton scored single runs in the third and fourth. The season turned in by the win- ners coached by Floyd Barney with Al Frost as manager was one of the best the school has enjoyed.
