SCC Sponsors TV Programs Since its formation in 1951, the Inter-School Citizenship Council IISCCJ, composed of four junior high schools, Dunbar, and Lubbock High, has ,been striving to better the citizenship of the citys youth. Donnie Dean, 1952, David Mc- Fearson, 1953, Don Kerr, 1954, and Gordon Graves, 19555 elected by members of the coun- cil, have each led the ISCC through its four years of sfonsoring such activities as Youth Week, Ha loween television programs, and a television and radio series based on citizenship. Oflicers of the Inter-School Citizenship Coun- cil for this year are, shown in the upper right hand picture, Carolyn Tapp, parliamentarian, Cordon Graves, presidentg Bobby Bailey, secre- tary-treasurer, and James West, vice-president. These oiiicers lan and execute the activities of the council thjat deal with the problems of citizenship in Lubbock. Shown in the center picture, during a tele- cast at KDUB are high-school members of the ISCC who are in charge of Lubbock High's television program, Mac Robertson, Kay Bur- nam, E. W. Cecil, and Manon Markham. Each school was responsible for a show. One of the events sponsored by the Inter- School Citizenship Council is the telethon held each year at Halloween. Students from schools in Lubbock and in surrounding towns partici- pated on the program, giving varied talent acts. Show below is a portion of the talent from LHS, the Iesters, a quartette composed of ex-West- emer Dick Frisby, Ray Carter, Gene Medley, and David Rigney, and dancer Irma Galindo. This was the second annual telethon that had been presented and telecast over KDUB. Discussing plans of the ISCC and how to bring these plans to LHS students are, below, Mr. Ra G. Shown below are senior Westemer football Elayers and senior girls in an exhibition basket- al game at the senior party. On the court are Suzette Francis, Coach O,Banion, Roy Day, Sharon Chick, Beverly Webb, and Phil Williams. After the Amarillo and Borger basketball ames sock ho s were held in Chapman Field gym. Shown above are Marslga Brock and Bobby Ha ood bo ping after the Amarillo game. Records of Glenn Miier, Bill? Maye, Ella Mae Morse, the Clovers, and many other well-known artists provided the music. Seen trippinfg the light fantastic in the boys' gym at an all- school party a ter the Borger game are several basketball players and their dates. A victory at the game made the evening possible for lots of fun. These parties were sponsored by the Student Council under the direction of the Recreation Committee. Shown below are Toni Bannister, Yvonne Skinner, and Larry Merriman selling cokes at the party on Round-Up night. One of these tables was seen at eve all-school party. These refreshments were welcomed after a rogram in the auditorium or a fast dance in the gym. The profit made on cokes was placed in the Student Council treasury. 151
