Lamar Tech The running of Robert Brunet and the passing of Phil Robertson to Ken Liherto helped propel Louisiana Tech over nationally ranked Lamar Tech. 41-31. Brunet ran for 22,1 yards and scored two touchdowns while Liberto caught scoring passes from Robertson for 61 and 13 yards as the Bulldogs came from behind twice to win. Buster Herren and Bubba Sanchez tallied on short runs for the Canines and Elton Calhoun kicked 6 of 7 extra points. , I FJ? ew Mexico State Looking at the statistics, one would never have thought that Louisiana Tech dropped a 48-7 de- cision to major college New Mexico State. Tech held a 31-24 advantage in first downs and trailed by only 548 to 575 in total offense. The Bulldogs passed for 416 yards, with Terry Bradshaw throwing for 288. Bradshaw scored the team's lone touchdown on a three-yard run in the final quarter. Split end Tommy Spinks led Tech receivers with eight catches for 109 yards. FW' 1 'P ,.. Phil Robertson passed for 302 yards and Tommy Spinks bagged 15 for 232 yards for the Bulldog's top offensive performers. The Tribe played ball control in the second half after a 7-7 deadlock at intermission and smashed to two TD's to offset a Tech score on a five-yard pass from Terry Bradshaw to Tommy Spinks. Rob- ert Brunet's one-yard run gave the Bulldogs their first half score. Offensive tackle play is the subject with Aubrey Futrell, Wayne Williams. Jerry Wilson, Eric Moss and Coach Pat Patterson. So. Mississippi Southern Mississippi, where Tech head coach Maxie Lambright had served eight years as an as- sistant, intercepted seven Bulldog passes to key a 58-7 Thanksgiving Day victory in Shreveport.
