PROGRESS Progress is a forward movement, it is an advance- tentg and it is very essential for a growing nation like urs. We as a nation have advanced from a colonial :Juntry to an independent country, from thirteen states J fifty states, from one President to another, Eisenhower J Kennedy, from war to peace, from a sparsely popu- ited country to a heavily populated one. This progress as, taken place over decades and centuries, from gen- tration to generation. Los Alisos Intermediate School has made much prog- ess also. We have progressed from a few students to many students, and we continue to grow: from one stu- ent-.body to another from Mayor to Mayor, Elaine scobar to Gregg Benoit, from a ten wing school to an Ieven wing school. Progress as you can see has played a remarkable art in the growth of our school, our nation, and our forld. ' The eighth graders have grown, and will continue 1 grow as they go forth from Los Alisos to high school. hey progress as students in the past have progressed, ut we hope they progress with the added knowledge tat each day in history has brought. May we all be better prepared to meet the de- mands of our changing world as this day ends and nother begins. sl ,J I J THE PRlNClPAL'S MESSAGE The Los Alisos yearbook staff has chosen the word or idea PROGRESS as its Theme this year of 1960-61. Progress denotes a movement forward, to advance to higher stages. We would that this is ci movem to better ideals better, attitudes, and a desire for pea , in our times. ' Progress is not accomplished smoothly without de- lays or interruptions. Regression usually accompanies progress. Since this is true may I say to all of our students not to be discouraged by the setbacks and misfortunes that are most likely to occur in life. Face them, conquer them, and PROGRESS.
