'ig 1 , o n ' 'V -I PHOTO BY DETROIT NEWS Under the tutelage of rookie coach Joe Brodie, the Lincoln Park Cagers finished the season with a record of 4-11, and then went on to defeat Taylor Center in the first round in tournament play. With the loss of 'Tom Hensen, the Railsplitters fail to find a winning combination. Although the team failed to win many games this season, they showed very good sportsmanship. With nine letter-men returning in the '58 - '59 season coach Brodie expects a winning year. One of the most satisfying victories of the season was over co-champions of the Huron-Rouge Conference, Dearborn High by the score of 67-62. This victory was accomplished after losing 15 years straight to the Pioneers. 16 3,31 M . S. student body at the first outside pep assembly of the year wr? The pep assembly, held in the high school stadium, was not only an excuse from third hour classes, but was also a work out for the cheer- leaders, an introduction of the football and track teams, and mainly a boost in school spirit. The entire student body took part in this assembly. The cheerleaders lead the students in a number of cheers, the band played the school song and pep songs, and the congregation, led by these two, cheered the teams onward boosting their spirits. Although the Railsplitters didn't end up as champions this year, we all are looking with pride at the team who in our opinion are cham- pions in more ways than winning. . pi' 7 1 S l ..v..f-' -7-1- 4 . .
