WE'VE GOT THE RHYTHM The 1981-1982 marching band underwent many changes. The year's program became more student-oriented with the installation of section leaders. They developed a new marching program that was centered on basic techniques. The band also moved into a new competitive class. Gary Czapinski came from Chicago to write and teach the band's drill, which included llThe William Tell Overture, l'Temptation, Spanish Dreams, and 'lChasin' the Clouds Awayff The band didn't fare well during the contest season, but won first and second place awards in com- petitive parades. Long-time department supervisor and concert band director, Anthony Gerace, retired at the end of the 1981-1982 school year. He will be greatly missed, but the band looks forward to a bright future.
