.2 SENIOR C ASS HISTORY In the fall of 1964, hundreds of wide-eyed Frosh entered Kensington High School searching hopelessly for the Auditorium. Little did they know what was ahead. Entering a large homeroom we were encountered by many un- familiar faces as well as piles of forms upon forms to fill out. Our first big event was the Freshman Halloween Dance on October 30, where Chris Kramer and Chet Owens won the door prizes. The football season opened with several of our Freshmen men playing on the J. V. squad. These were: Duane Hewson, Denny Burns and Carmen Mitri. For the 1965 Drill Team, Valerie Hughes and Pat Hogan were among the girls chosen to march during half time at the football games. Also, Prudy Celeste, Donna Eno and Jeanne Truax made the J. V. Cheerleading Squad for 1965. Class Elections turned out to be successful. Ron DiGiore, president, Sandy Burger, vice-president, Cathy Cleveland, secretary, and Tim Clark, treasurer. As Sophomores, we were a little more confident and hard-working, but nevertheless we were still Underclassmen. Karen DiPirro, Paulette Vergos and Jo Ann Kushner were some of the Sophomores that joined with the Yearbook Staff to help turn out a successful edition of the COMPASS . June Thompson and Nick Beaver were among our Class Officers for 1966. Jim Steg and Tom Weld, combined their talents and started a folk singing group known as NEWPORT TRIO . Some of our Student Council Delegates were: Linda Smith, Bobbie Herr, and Dawn Huber. Leading our class scho- lastically were Esther Herrmann, Marcia Greatrix, Elaine Boczarski and Lois Borkowski. November 21 and 22, brought the Annual Water Show entitled STORY- BOOK LAND with Alana Kaczmarski, Cathy Crane, Sue Lex and Cindy Gruber as some of our Sophomore stars. Many of our clubs had Sophomores as their officers. Some of these were: Debby Porterfield, Ken Boosters, and Pat Berebko, F.T.A. 74

Our Junior Year opened immediately with Student Council Delegates chosen, Kandy Beane, Sue Tufo, Rae Ann Campagnola and Lee Hobel were some of our Junior leaders. Several of our clubs were led by Junior students such as Dave Schneider, Red Cross Club, and Liz Visone, French Club. Many Juniors brought music to our ears through band and orchestra. Bob Vezina, Dave Ernst, Angel Smith and Kathy Fish were some of our talented group. J. V. Football this year was quite unsuccessful, yet we had Mike Ivers, Dennis Kaluzny, Art Richter and Don Fell fighting for us. Cross Country this year brought to light many Jun- ior stars. Ron J akubowski and Mike Maksymik helped to attain our All-High fifth placing in finals. In Varsity swimming, Greg Brennan, Don Pecoraro, and Glen Hobel displayed their prowess and style in swimming and helped our team to win three meets. May 19th, the Spotlights were on all of us at the Junior Prom in the gym. The theme was Evening in Athens and we all glided across the floor to the music of Joe Santora's band. The next month was filled with cramming for exams and planning for our Senior year that we all managed to reach finally. Well, here we are on the last stretch and for many of us it is just the end of a beginning, college. What a wonderful feeling it is to be the leaders of the school! Many exciting things have happened, not the least of which was the annual Variety Show on March 8th, entitled People , where some Senior Professionals were seen performing. Our host and hostess were Jim Sheldon and Linda Messina. Other stars included Liz Fischer, Jackie Kemp and Jackie David. Margaret Latko and John Peters won class offices in the elections held in March. Our rings finally came! After the Faculty-Varsity Basketball Game the Faculty was forced to show its true colors in the end: Black and blue. April brought plans for the Senior Prom the Paper Drive and Graduation. All things considered, we can all say that this has been a memorable step in our careers as students. Our Alma Mater is everything that we have made it and in every sense of the idea. WE are Kensington. 75
