C MMAN MASTER CHIEF RMCMCSWD KENNETH L. MITCHELL Master Chief Radioman Ken- neth L. Mitchell was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio and was raised in Terre Haute, Indiana. He graduated from Wiley High School in 1968 and enlisted in the Navy October 6. 1969. Fol- lowing basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois he attended Radioman A School in Bain- bridge, Maryland. Prior to reporting to KALA- MAZOO February 8, 1990 his previous tours included USS HEPBURN IFF-10551, NAVAL COMMUNICATIONS AREA MASTER STATION ATLANTIC ftwo toutsl USS SHAKORI LATF 1623 USS SEATTLE IAOE 31 COM MANDER TRAINING COM MAND U S ATLANTIC FI EET U S NAVY SENIOR ENLISTED ACADEMY and USS DWIGHT D EISEN HOWER KCVN 695 During his career he has com pleted two Western Pacific VT. deployments, five Mediterranean deployments, three Indian Ocean deployments, and three North Atlantic deployments. EXECUTIVE OFFICER CDR ROBERT C. JACKsoN Commander Robert C. Jack- son was born 18 December 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsyl- vania and was raised in Linden- wold, New Jersey. He is a 1976 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Immediately following com- missioning, Commander Jack- son was assigned to the Athlet- ic Staff, U. S. Naval Academy where he served as an Assistant Football Coach for one season. Commander Jackson then attended Surface Warfare Offi- cer Basic School and reported to USS CONCORD CAFS SJ for his initial three year sea assignment where he served first as Communications Offi- cer and then as Damage Con- trol Assistant. Commander Jackson's fol- low-on shore duty assignment The pages that follow should be interesting. Chaps. they better be interesting or remember this - 1'm gonna be the Chief Staff Ofticer at LOGRON FOUR - for two long years. was to Manhattan, New York where he served as Officer in Charge of Officer Recruiting Programs for Navy Recruiting District, New York. In September 1983, after grad- uating from Department Head School, Commander Jackson reported to USS CLAUDE V. RICKETTS QDDG SJ and served as Engineering Officer for two years. Follow on orders in September 1985 assigned Com- mander Jackson to USS GUAM where he served as Engineering Officer until November 1987. Commander Jackson was then assigned to the Commander, Naval Surface Force, U. S. Atlantic Fleet staff where he served as Conventional Propul- sion Training Coordinator for east coast surface ships. ln October 1989, Comman- der Jackson reported to USS KALAMAZOO CAOR 61 as the Executive Officer. This tour of duty included a major deployment to the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf in direct support of Operation Desert Storm. Commander Jackson's awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Com- mendation Medal Qtwo awardsj, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the South- west Asia Campaign Medal. Commander Jackson resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia with his wife Gerri, and sons Keith and Brian. From the crew: XO, you got us home.
