The Science Club this year added Magic and Ventriloquism to its groups of Photography. Astron- omy, and Radio. Mr. Hull, a new teacher at Jelferson, became the club's advisor. Activities of the year consisted of a Roller Skating Party, a trip to Bowling Green for Sci- ence Day, and the many group projects. The club, affiliated with Science Clubs of Amer- ica, worked on a project for Infantile Paralysis. This year for the first time our Science Club adopted a song and colors. The song is entitled When Science Club Is Meeting and is sung to the tune of When Irish Eyes Are Smiling. The colors are red and gray. T

Learning to do, Doing to learn, Earning to live, Living to serve . . . this, the motto of the Future Farmers of America, states the general purpose of the F. F. A. ' Vocational Agriculture teaches, mainly by prac- tical experience, the essential factors of life on the farm, the care and necessary facts about farm ani- mals, how to manage a farm effectively and effici- ently, and the proper care and use of machinery on the farm. Each boy must keep a record of his required project which usually concerns animals, crops, or im- provement projects. The members of the F. F. A. participate in state contests such as public speaking, parliamentary pro- cedure, farm shop safety, land judging, poultry judg- ing, meat judging, and general livestock judging.

Y-Teens The Y-Teens, under the capable direction of Miss Friedrick, began the school year with their traditional candle light initiation. The girls at once started on plans for the main social event of the year, the annual Y-Teen Dance which was held in December. Beau- tifully tinted stars, couples dancing on clouds, and a stairway reach- ing to the sky were the decorations for this dance. The theme for this gala affair was, Stairway to the Stars. Other activities were a skating party and a Mother-Daughter Banquet.
