SENIOR OFFICERS Sponsor Miss Slater, V.P. Debbie Bartels, Pres. Teresa Kapper, Secretary Cheryl Ca- rey, Treasurer Carolyn Beck, Sponsor Mr. Blakley. We entered I.H.S. in the fall of '70 as very enthusiastic and ready for change freshman. Looking forward to a fine year with Paul Mason, Pres. Mark Stone, V. Pres. , Martha Dale, Sec., and Karen Keleher, Treasurer, we started things off with a bakesale to make enough money for our freshman float. . . speaking of our freshman float . .. we had a lot of fun and put in a lot of work on the theme. . . 'Victory is Our Bag. The colors were great and we liked it, even though we got fourth place. It was then the big changes began. Enemies became close and friends became closer with the passing of a dear friend. . . The fall of '71 we again entered I.H.S. a little less enthusiastic but again ready for change. Having Ted Ho- henstein, Pres. , Pryl Hayden, V. Pres. , Deb Bartels, Sec. , and Vicki Shartzer, Treasurer, to lead us, we had can- dy sales a bake sale, and a cake raffle for money making projects. We would work hard, always looking forward to our Senior year and class trip. We felt our float was a winning float with the great theme of There's No Butts About It. . .The Pirates Will Light Up A Victory , but unfortunately, the judges didn't agree with us and we re- ceived third place. The spirit, however, was still there and we started our Junior year determined to get first. As we became Juniors in '72 we learned that the summer could change us as much as the school year. We had grown and changed a lot in the last two years, and now faced a busy year. Led by Karen Keleher, Pres., Ted Ho- henstein, V.Pres., Lori Arnold, Sec. , and Julie Bliler, Treasurer, we sold magazines and sold candy, had a bake sale and cake raffle and sponsored the best prom in the history of Illiopolis High School. The theme. . . Summer Breeze .. .the band.. .Godfrey Cain. Our Senior year brought about some of the greatest changes we would face in high school. Our President, Ter- esa Kapper, along with the help of Deb Bartels, V.Pres. , Cheryl Carey, Sec. , and Carolyn Beck, Treasurer, worked extremely hard to raise enough money to take us to Florida. We appreciated the work that was done. Homecoming was a great success as we chose We May Never Pass This Way Again for our theme and Deb Bartels, Susie Blake- man, Julie Bliler, Julie Johansen, and Karen Keleher as queen candidates and Steve Boyed, Mark Stone, Ted Ho- henstein, Andy McMahon, and Ronnie Johansen as king candidates. Julie and Steve were a great King and Queen. Our money making projects were; two bake sales, selling coke, candy, chili and spaghetti suppers, selling Christ- mas decorations, a Halloween party, cake raffle, and our rummage sale. Finally we were on our way to Florida. Florida was a fantastic time for all and finally graduation time came. We faced the biggest change of all.. .the world and all the changing we would do to it. 14
