The mellow tone of the bell, sounding the hour, made her glance back. On the tower. bright against the blue and white sky. sunlight glinted against the hands on the face of the clock. That clock had ticked off nearly three years of her life. It wouldn't be long before it was all over . . And what had it all added up to?
