It meant get-togethers in the hall before school, and the warmth of friendship with dozens of others It meant learning to work with peo ple to be informal, to be casual and helpful. Under the tower was a con genial world of harmony The friendliness of high school, she thought, was one thing that would stay with her for years to come. May be it would mean more, really than anything else her diploma signified The girl turned the corner, shifted her books, and sniffed the fragrance of apple blossoms and lilacs. The mellow tone of the bell, sounding the hour, made her glance back. On the tower. bright against the blue and white sky. sunlight glinted against the hands on the face of the clock. That clock had ticked off nearly three years of her life. It wouldn't be long before it was all over . . And what had it all added up to?
