At the opening of the 1946 fall school term there appeared at the portals of Glen- wood, ninety-one lively boys and girls whose goal was to graduate in 1950. We began our Freshman year with the election of Lomeda Schmid, president, Odie Fisher, vice president, Don Sexton, secretary and treasurer. Our advisors at the end of the year were Mrs. Caudill and Mrs. Kapps. Our Freshman Homecoming attendant was Anna Laura Floyd. Then came vacation and we took leave of GHS to return in the fall as sophomores. The following officers led our Sophomore class of seventy-two: Oscar Emshwiller, president, Carl Neu, vice presidentgMarvin Bowling, secretary, lviarcella Emshwiller, treasurer, and Richard Barnes, reporter. Our faculty advisors were Miss Mitchell and Mr. Duncan. The sophomore boys received a trophy for being the winners of class tournaments. 10 IIIASS Our Sophomore Homecoming attendant was Ruth Thompson. Class officers for our Junior Year were: Richard Barnes, president, Donna Sheridan, vice president, Lomeda Schmid, secretary and treasurer, and reporter, Charles Pauley. They were aided by our advisors, Mrs. Campbell and Mr. Washington. Two events far overshadowed all others in our .Tunior year. The first was our class play, 'The Night Was Dark. The cast con- sisted of: Donna Sheridan, David Staten, Carol Weaver, Ray Montgomery, Don Sexton, Mary Jo Stapleton, Ruth Thompson, lvlarcella Emsh- willer, Lomeda Schmid, Darrell Williams, Charles Pauley, and Nate Phipps. The di- rectors were Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Fluty. Student directors were Patty Williams and Roberta Holsinger. The second was the Junior-Senior Banquet at the Lake White Club. The theme for our Banquet was Circus , HISHIRY We sponsored the Homecoming Dance for the queen and her attendants, whichwas given in the gym. Our Junior Homecoming attendant was Ruth Ann Hoover. Our Honor Society consisted of the top ten of the class, as follows: Richard Barnes, Charles Pauley, Lomeda Schmid, Ruth Thompson, Ruth Ann Hoover, Doris Jones, Dorothy Keeney, Zelma Wallace, Marcella Emshwiller and Donna Sheridan. Another big event of our Junior Year was the arrival of our class rings. 1950 finds us as fifty-five dignified Seniors remaining from the ninety-one who entered as Freshmen four years ago. Our officers are: Donna Sheridan, Presi- dentg Lomeda Schmid, vice presidentg Patty Williams, secretary, Clarice Davis, trea- surerg Doris Jones and Charles Pauley, re- porters. Roberta Barlett, Bernedia Barnett, Patty Williams, and David Staten make up our 1 . P ,,n 4 Ufiglial' , , Q X ., I .Lid advisory council Our advisors are Miss Wheeler and Mr. Caudill. The name of our Senior Class Play was Peter Beware , given May 11, and May 12. lt was directed by Miss Wheeler. Our Homecoming Queen was Marcella Emshwiller, attendants were: Ruth Ann Hoover, Seniorg Wanda Weaver, Junior, Ruth Ann Schwamberger, sophomore: and Joan Lands, freshman. We had our graduation pictures made at Martings. Our name cards and announcements were ordered and received with eagerness. Now we are waiting anxiously for the Junior-Senior Banquet and even more so for our Baccalaureate and Commencement exer- cisesg but as the time grows nearer for us to leave Glenwood, we begin to regret it.
