The Echoing Voice of Eost A student learns many things during his years as an Ace. He learns the basic knowledge taught to him in class by books and lectures. But ,more impor- tant, he learns a way to live, a way of understanding people, and of under- standing himself. He joins the common cause of promoting Wichita East, whether he joins as a leader or as a follower. He is moved by the people around him, by students his age, by speakers in assemblies, by administra- tors, counselors, and teachersj'His ideas are continuously changing, his goals changing with them. As a teacher speaks he echos the voices of great men before him, and so does the student echo the voice of the teacher when he uses that knowledge later in life. A game won or lost, a friendship gained or lost, an ambition attained or lost, all experiences of today will echo as memories, as lessons, in the future. Each day, each moment, East is preparing its students for the world. As we leave these halls and go our chosen directions, the voice of East will leave with us, serving as a back- ground for our lives. Nothing lost, nothing forgotten, this voice will live in our hearts and in the world forever.
