The great shooting of Alvin Carroll and Joe Massengale and the all-around play of Ed Cannon and Ron Freeman should lead to many victories. TENNIS Some observers believed Ken Bentley to be Southern California ' s best high school tennis player. «.,Vi. » %■ The Varsity and Junior Varsity tennis teams opened their second year competi- tion with great success. Their first victory came against Jefferson High. Led by two-year All -City Ken Bentley and the unmerciful play of Peter Jacobs and Alon Carmichael, Crenshaw went on to make every- one fear the blue and gold. Five netmen who fought to make Cren- shaw powerful were Bentley, Jacobs, Carmichael, Perry Brown, and Larry Diamond. M Perry Brown hadn ' t played tennis seriously till this spring. He turned out to be one of the best. 79
