Mr. Strand, former principal and athletic director at C-FC, took over the duties of superintendent on August 15, 1966. As the short- age of time before the opening of school made it impossible to select a new principal, four teachers--Mr. Everson, Mr. Freimark, Mr. Rosenow, and Mr. Skorlinski--were appointed to carry out the principal's duties and to share in the numerous responsibilities. The faculty spent a busy year preparing the students to meet every- day challenges. Not only were they involved in academic work, but also in extra-curricular activities. Many teachers led club ac- tivities and all were involved in chaperoning activity buses. Aa'minz'stratz'0n Mr. Freimark, Mr. Skorlinski, Mr. Everson, Mr. Rosenow 6 MRS. Athletics and extra-curricular activities also were an important aspect of their high school days. As freshmen entering C-FC, they quickly ad- justed to the new environment. Most of the year was spent getting acquainted with many new faces and a new way of life. In September of their sophomore year, the class sponsored the freshman initiation dance. Another important event was the selection of class rings. Hard work and thoughtful planning helped to make the junior Prom a success. The theme, Some Enchanted Evening, was carried out through a South Seas atmosphere. The Homecoming football victory and dance, the class play, and the senior banquet climaxed the senior year. SENIOR CLASS ADVISORS: Mrs. Kenney, Mr. Rosenow, Mr. Scholl and Mr. Marchionda. l OFFICERS: M. Benning, treasurer, W. Engel, Vice-president, F. Neitzel, president, C. Wolfe, secretary. Student Representatives Inspivfe Leadershzf The Student council this year exercised their powers in school government by setting up rules to benefit the entire student body. The student council decided that the money obtained through the magazine drive should be used to purchase a portable public address- system and a stero tape recorder. Student council members pur- chased pins to be worn as a badge of their office. Setting up the agenda for Homecoming, selling Homecoming buttons, and select- ing assemblies for the following year were the cou.nci1's responsibil- ities. FIRST ROW SFATED: R. Voss, R. Suhr, B. Steve Prussing honored the royalty by singing May You Always. Mr. Freimark crowned Mary Abts queen and presented her with a white football autographed by the players. The Lemmon Sisters hit the high notes. Mmm. . . Mamma Mia's pizza is good. Cheerleaders inspire fans. Enthusiasm! 26 To Victmy The Pirates fought hard and defeated Osseo which made the Homecoming a complete success. Tom Rosenow scored in the first period. Second quarter, C-FC got a drive going which ended in a 12 yard pass from Dan Platteter to Tom Rosenow for another touch- down. Osseo then scored on a pass interception. The score remained 12-7, with both teams playing a strong defensive game. Halftime entertainment was provided by the band and the pom pon girls. Palm trees and island flowers depicted the 1966 prom theme, Some En- chanted Evening. The Wayne Solberg Orchestra played within a band shell shaped as a sea shell. Em- erald and white streamers were draped from the ceil- ing and punch was served from a bamboo hut. The mural of sand, sky and water supplied the final touches to make the eve- ning truly an enchanted one. Crowning of the King and Queen. First dance. 31 Old and young enjoy the dance. On October 28, 1966, the senior class presented the play, The Man Who Came to Dinner, by Moss Hart and George Kaufman. The play, which was directed by Miss Schwanke and student director, janet Wicka, was a frolicsome comedy, The entire cast and crew numbered 45. The backstage was crowded with make-up people, ready to powder a shiny-nosed actor, and with perspiring, jittery cast members, waiting for their turn onstage. Miss Preen had a pin ready in case they started to giggle. After the play ended, one of the actresses commented, I really en- joyed being in the play.
