He was indeed the ideal gentleman of his dag with his high silk hat. frock coat, gold topped cane, and courteous man- ners. Foremost in his mind, how- euer, was the welfare of the community. His keen interest and foresight aroused a spirit of Progressiueness among the people which he fostered and encouraged.

Today we find as leaders of this community W. M. Town- send and Miss M. Edith Bell who. through their constant kindness and courtesy and unsel- Hsh service to the school. have won the love and admiration of every Central pupil. They have through their guidance and encouragement created in the pupils of Central High School a spirit worthy of the beautiful building which the citizens of Columbus have en- trusted to them.
