Testators, Sandra Gregory 30 Janet Weeks SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY June 15, 1975 Dear Pal, Last week I attended the class reunion of the graduating class of 1962. DONALD JONES, a driver for the Yellow Cab Co., carried me there, and somehow I arrived there in one piece. Our former president, DAVID HAMRICK, the internationally known brain surgeon, met me at the door. I wandered around and talked with all my classmates. Was I surprised! LIN WEEKS has replaced Norman Rockwell as chief illustrator of the Saturday Evening Post . His last cover was a portrait of our first lady president, JUDY MCPHERSON. STEVE WINSLOW, Mayor of Elizabeth City, was conversing with his secretary, ELIZABETH MADRE. I was bored to death by LUTHER and LINDA JACOBS who kept showing me pictures of their three sets of twins. JOYCE HARRIS kept surprising everyone by taking snapshots of everyone’s liver with her new invention, a portable X-ray machine. BARBARA SHERLOCK, New York hair stylist, was wearing her new creation, the Yul Bryner look. We were entertained by WALTON WHITEHEAD, who has taken A1 Jolson's place in the music world, and by CATHY COPELAND, who is now a nationally known concert pianist. America's Sweetheart, MARILYN CRADDOCK, took time off from her new musical to attend the reunion. By the way, STEPHEN FOSTER SHARBER, who is taking off after his name's sake, wrote the arrangements for the movie. His brother, Stan Sharber, is known as the Wolf of Broadway . His latest fling was with GLENDA WOOD, Newland's most prominent socialite. I have learned that EDDIE BARKER is doing T.V. commercials for Mennen Spray Mist. The new head of the Internal Revenue Department, EDITH WILLIAMS, has been taking lessons from JIMMY BREEDEN, the mathematical genius, to learn how to fill out income tax forms. All American quarterback for the Baltimore Colts, BILLY EVANS, was fascinating HELEN FAYE GREGORY, a newspaper reporter from Washington, D.C., with his muscles. ROY HARRIS, coach of E.C.U. (Elizabeth City University) was rather downhearted over losing his 15th straight game. Girl's coach for E.C.U. is GENE STALLINGS, our old buddy from Newland. DR. WILFORD DAIL is now a very profitable undertaker. Remember how BETTY ANN TEMPLE used to be? Well, she still is. She has just got a divorce from her sixth husband, and is now concentrating her charms on MAC BREEDEN, who is still happy as a confirmed bachelor. BOBBY ARMSTRONG has just come from Raleigh where he is head of the agricultural department at N.C. State. GEORGETTA BASNIGHT, secretary of the U.N. has just returned from Africa after making great contributions toward world peace. Our old friend BRENDA CRAIN just became a grandmother for the third time. MAXINE MUSE is now co-owner of the Sportsman Marina (with George). IVLA MAE CARTWRIGHT is now head of the Pasquotank County Library. She reports that SANDRA GREGORY has a new book out, entitled ”101 Ways to Say Nothing . LOUISE WILLIAMSON is now a famous model for Dior. The Newland Twosome JANET WEEKS and CAROLYN JONES, just received a gold record for their latest hit, The Newland Twist . .JIMMIE HARRIS and DOUGLAS BRIGHT, two prominent farmers in the Newland township have just gone bankrupt. ANN PERRY, still determined not to get married until the age of 63, is leading several men a merry chase since she has inherited millions from her Aunt Gertrude. BILLY JONES has just been elected as head of the Bus Drivers' Club at the Greyhound Bus Co. Well, I must close, for I have to go cook supper. Write soon. 3i Your friend CLASS HISTORY In the fail of 1950-60 snagglcd-toothed youngsters started on their twelve year journey through Disneyland. First we visited Adventure Land. There, many of us stopped to marvel at the many fascinating thrills of our first school years. Many students liked to pretend they were animals for they were often seen wearing black tails. During the next few years most of our time was spent in Frontier Land. We took many trips in these years. Among the most memorable were our trips to Edenton and Jamestown. There we explored the various landmarks and toured the historical sites. We then traveled on and, in the seventh and eighth grades progressed through Wonder Land. There we made many important discoveries--the most important being the opposite sex. After eight long years we were ready to enter high school, Fantasy Land, or so we thought. Our first memorable experience was the Freshman Party where we gained our title Dumb Freshman.” Much of our time during this year was spent in detention hall subtracting one and adding one-half. At the beginning of our Sophomore year we got a new principal and became adjusted to many new rules. As our Junior year approached we each looked forward to the Junior Play and the Junior-Senior. The play was a big success even though it was given on one of the stormiest nights of the year. The highlight of the year, the Junior-Senior, gave all of us memories that we shall always cherish. Our Senior Year loomed before us. Each of us was thrilled at that first assembly of the year when all underclassmen stood up to honor us, at last Seniors. As the year went by we made the rounds of all the parties given in our behalf. We eagerly planned the Senior Play and worked diligently to make it a success. Then the time came for us to attend our last Junior-Senior. We were not disappointed and each of us will always remember that wonderful night. Not all of this year was play however; we all worked hard. Now we are ready to graduate. We have all loved these school years but are now ready to travel on into Tomorrow Land.
