Such a job includes doing page make-ups, assigning and writing stories, and proofreading the copy among other things, ' 7 The first issue, the second, the third and then it was the last. Yes, another year of the publication of the Stampede is completed-and a most rewarding one it hos been. Under the advisorship of Coburn Palmer, the Stampede staff added many new features to the paper this year. Pictured at the left is the staff: From L. to R. in the back row are: Tom Howard, Mary Anne Kaylor, Judee Bruce, Kit Ruona, Neil Calhoun, John Moore, Judy Kent and Bob Weinberger. In front are: Carol Ward, Sandy Zicke and Pat Kenner. -L3 Proudly looking at this year's first edition of the Stampede is Coburn Palmer new advisor. Agreeing that it was an excellent issue are editor MaryAnne Kaylor and managing editor, Judee Bruce. Something new! For the first time the beginning iournalism class was able to combine forces with the regular staff. In doing so the cubs were able to gain experience by writing stories and having them published in the paper. As a combination of their efforts, the cubs published the February I4 edition ofthe Stampede. ,.f FROSH SOPH CHEERLEADERS Bommori fx 00014 ff VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Arlene Egnafoff Duane Buckey Steve Roland Head Cheerleader Shirley De Petrus Joyce Thomas Ton no Linda De Bumstn Elf I nedn Fox xr 16 f Yf ZTQ Y 9 V 5x Like-wow! For this tremendous achievement the Peninsula Sports Writer's As' sociation gave coach La- Crosse a special commenda- tion. Congratulations, 3O's, for your brilliant showing. Under the leadership of Coach Johnson, this year's varsity basketball team clearly showed themselves to be the class of the Peninsula Athletic League. They fashioned a twelve game won, two game lost, record for their championship. Consequently the team represented the league in the West Bay Tournament held at Palo Alto. Here again Cap displayed their tremendous ability and spirit by taking a third place in basketball and a first place in rooting. ...Ti i.'1 Kg! W, ,J '.. la-1 . As Freshmen, they proved their spirit and enthusi- asm by earning more money than the sopho- more class for work week. Their sparkling spirit con- tinued as their Sopho- more year progressed. At rallies and games the Class of '59 always cheered the loudest for Cap. Highlighting the fol- lowing year was Carrib- ean Cruise , the Junior Prom. Tender is the Night , senior-cut day and Dusk till Dawn are iust a few of the many wonderful moments that each and every '59er will remember as a part of their fun-filled Senior year.
