X ,. wr . K go EL 'iiiiiztc pw-mum' . The beat of life for the College began in 1906 with the formation of the Russell Creek Academy. As the academy grew and expanded, it was granted junior college status in November, 1923 by the authority of the Trustees at the General Association of Kentucky Baptists. It was de- cided the following year that the school should be renamed Campbells ville College. The proceeding years saw con- tinuous development with the College receiving accreditation by the University of Kentucky Association of Colleges and Secon- dary Schools in 1933. Upgrading into a four-year college was au- thorized in 1957 and, then, member- ship in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as a liberal arts senior college in 1963 followed. This span of sixty-seven years saw constant growth and impulse to continue. Today, this beat of life keeps on truckin'. Numerous dramatic roles OTE Now that all my duties as Editor of the 1973 Maple Trail comes to an end I will now use that title to give some words of thanks and to do a little editorlizing. The first person I must recognize is the author of the poetry which is found on our color pages. He is Lao Tzu a fifth century B. C. Chin- ese poet and philosopher. I only hope a little of his beautiful themes will be meaningful to you the reader. If you wish to read more of Lao Tzu his book, THE WAY OF LIFE, contains all his poems. My entire staff have worked very fine but four deserve very special thanks. Teri Simpson whose offical title is typist however she has done everything from composing copy to drawing up pages, and done it Well. Brenda Tuttle likewise has been busy all year doing whatever I asked her to do. This time last year when I was named editor I was worried about pictures, but Mark jordan has done a fine job in our darkroom. Mark's only problem is that he is a little forget- ful. Lastly, George Lewis our backup photo- grapher has always had the pictures I needed if Mark didn't. I realize that this is not the best yearbook ever to be printed but it is our hope that it con- tains some information and remberances for the future. We have tried to print those things which are important. The only bad point is the num- ber of students who did not have their pictures taken. More than 507, of the freshman class did Dot have a picture taken. The other classes are just as bad but we had pictures from last year or some other source to fill these sections. It has been a fun year and a busy year I hope that the 1973 Maple Trail is a book for you and one you will be proud of.
