Dedication Because this year marks the tenth anniversary of the founding of Byrdtown Academy, we, the staff of the yearbook set out to prepare a special kind of annual. We have gathered a great deal of information about our school, our athletic program, and other activities. We have begged and borrowed pic- tures of past events. We have included our school's history in this commemorative copy of our an- nual. We feel that we have truly presented our first decade in an outstanding manner. Now that our work is done, we not only regard it with pride but even more so do we regard with pride the people who have made it all possible: the people who planned for the school and who have directed the progress of Byrdtown Academy since ground breaking, the seniors who have received diplomas here, the faculty who have labored to maintain our high standards both mentally and morally, the young people who have been a part of our student body, the present students, and especially the parents and the other supporters of our school who have sacrificed to make all this possible. It is to all these people that we dedicate this yearbook. The Challenger, this tenth year of Byrdtown Academy. We note the name, The Chal- lenger. It was a challenge to come this far; it is a greater challenge to do better and go farther. We ask you who come after us to accept this challenge for the next decade. 6
