During the first sem- ester it was indeed a very lively and functioning organiza- tion. Various council projects encouraged student partici- pation and promoted a genial feeling between the school and the community. Interests of the Student Council included the Youth Center and its entertainment, the school flag, school assemblies, the slave sale, and the Christmas decor- ations. Representatives of the local organization at- tended the State Student Council Convention in Madill. The Pirateers sponsored a Winter Sports Queen race, proceeds from which paid for the cheerleaders' new uniforms. The main method of raising money, however, has been by cake sales held following the football games.
