THE FORBIAN sion with a few pertinent words, then we ate. Again there was the outing to Nantasket, when we I-an wild through Paragon Park. But flon't forget the Merchant of Venice with that all-star Cast: Shyloek, Sallengerg Antonio, Doherty 5 Portia, Careyg Nerissa, Healyg Bas- sanio, Leeng Lorenzo, Swansong J essica, Sheag Gratiano, Deevy. And do you remember how we won out in the VVoodstock Aid Drive? lVe1l, when all is duly considered, it looks as though Father Connell was very near the truth, if not absolutely true, when he said that our class was one of the finest he had found in the province. Remember lVhat proposition did we have for today, fellows? Yes, that was Mr. Haggerty. Then there was Mr. Foley, and later, Fr. McGovern for French. This year was surely one of triumphs- and new 2l.Clll6VQl11GI1tS-fillS is the year wherein our sacred band admitted to its hallowed membership fair Francis Carey and laughing John Quinn. Although we missed our old friend Tom Drohan, who left us to joi11 the Passionists, yet in the light -of what our members did this year, who can say that any class on the school equalled the record of 3 B? In every single one of the long list of school activi- ties we were represented and well represented too. Here a.re the statistics, showing who were our representatives in the extra-school a.ctivities: Football, Cavanaugh and McCarthy , Baseball, McCarthy CCaptain-electj, and Flynn, Track, Kelley, McC1'ohan, MCG-rath, and McCarthy, Hockey, Carey and Flynn, Swimming, Flynn, Bapst, Leen, Fitzgerald, McCrohan, Doherty, Devenny, and Facey, McElroy, Carey and O'Brien, oampion, Leen, Facey, McCrohan, Devenny fVice- Presidentl, Doherty, and Healy, Dramatics, Fitzgerald, D-oherty, De- venny, O'Reilly, and Swanson, Elocution, Fitzgerald fthe winnerj, Devenny, McCfrohan, Sallenger, a.nd Doherty, Botolphtian, Face-y', Gillooly, O'Brien, McCrohan, and Doherty, Orchestra, Deevy. Our Class Officers for the first term were: President, Stephen Cavanaugh, Vice-President, VVilliam Flynn, Treasurer, Francis Mc- Carthy, Beadle, J. Austin Devenny, Sergeant-at-Arms, Joseph Cahill. For the second semester these -offices were held respectively by William Flynn, John Quinn, Vincent Roberts, Edward McGrath, William Healy. Our class motto was Be Frank, or as some of the 'fPa.tres Conscriptiv said, Be Nasty? But we must not forget the class Christmas entertainment, when Henry Leen delivered his oration on the spirit of the occasion, when Deevy and McCrol1an played selec- tions on the fiddle, when Kennedy and Farrell entertained on the harmonica and jews-harp. Mr. Matthews, of course, graced the occa-

Mr. Kennedy came in daily to puzzle with his trig, it seemed hopeless at first and yet we managed to pull through in masterly fashion. It seems a.s though this great class was destined to close its final year with a blaze of glory. Though leaders at all times, in our senior year we have especially forged to the front and held a leader in every phase of school activities. In athletics to start with, we set up an enviable record. Hats off to Mecca McCarthy, our All-Scholastic end! The hockey team, under Captain Ed Sliney, won the City Championship. In basket- ball we were well represented, while the baseball team, with Captain McCarthy, its peerless leader has already hung up a string of vic- tories. But in scholastic endeavor we especially led. J. Austin De- venny captured the twenty-tive dollars in gold offered to the winner of the Senior Elocution C-ontest, it being the fourth time that a stu- dent of Mr. Matthews won the coveted honor. In the Bapst, Henry Leen was chosen to lead our famous inter-scholastic debaters. On' the stage, our brilliant elocutionist, John' Fitzgerald, again starred in leading roles. This was due in great part to the splendid dilige-nce and labor of a few boys coupled with the co-opera- tion of the whole class. We feel that especial thanks should be tendered to the Messrs. Gillooly, Sullivan, Hagerty, Hartnett, Hagan, Ochs, Sughrue, Kearns, Hanlon, and Carey, although every one of the boys was untiring in his efforts. The year in the cla.ss was a happy one. Despite the cries of 'fprattv and 'fdragv the 'class worked as a unit as the results show. Early in the year, the class voted on having a year book, and every- one is to be congratulated for his interest. in its behalf. Class officers were chosen and it was decided to leave them in their respective offices Had aeternum. In other words, when we
