DEDICA 7 ION To Dr. O. Tanning, teacher, scholar and friend, we dedicate the 1948 EDDA. Professor of History, Economics and Political Science, Doc has headed the History Department for the past 20 years. After receiving his BA degree at Luther College, M.A. at the University of Michigan and Ph. D. at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Tanning did graduate work at the University of Michigan and the University of Marburg, Germany. Whether it's entertaining his classes with the latest anecdotes, counseling students or associating with the athletes, for whom he has a soft spot lhe is chairman of the Athletic Boardl, Doc is a friend. Because Doc Tanning likes Augustana and Augustana likes Doc Tanning, we dedicate this book ta him.
