.T fs 5' ' ji? and ..-.H :PW WE GRAVE AND REVEREND SENTORS We grave and reverend Seniors, Who thought the years so slow We spent in acquisition Of things we had to know, Are filled with wild excitement, At last the goal is won. We gaze in admiration Upon the work we've done. The courses we have taken, The stiff exams. we've passed Would indicate intelligenceg With wonder we're aghast. The faculty, they tell us, Are equally surprised, For when they found us passing They scarce believed their eyes. Perhaps it was their wisdom That dragged us up the grade, And so we're saying, Thank you, For good advice and aid. How often we have counted The time till holidays, And wished the hours were shorter In education's ways! But now we may discover What old folks say is true: Life's working day is lengthy, And holidays are few. Still armed with high endeavor We'll meet fate with a smile And strive with hearts undaunted, Remembering the while That life, despite misfortune, Is but adventure gay, And Death's friend that gives us A last long holiday. fx n, v Q . K 1 4 ,,-4-.,...,,.., PROPHECY It is the year of 1990. Bob Parrish and I, Sue Morrison are leaving home to sail over the seas as missionaries to the heathen Chinese. As we travel through the United States on our way to meet our ship, we meet many of our old friends from Alrno High. We stop to make a phone call and find the telephone operators to be Joyce Bizzle and Shirley Lovett, two of our classmates. We had lunch with the girls and they told us that Myrtle Mathis is mistress of an orphans home in the same city. When we got on our plane at San Francisco who do you think was pi- lot? None other than our old classmate Donald Myrt Burkeen. As we talked with Donald he told us that Larry Birdbrain Woodall and Daniel the Broken-nosed reindeer Pritchett were the leading stars on the DEXTER JAMBOREE . When our plane landed in Honolulu we saw a familiar looking fellow and it was Durward Dagwood Bennett. Durward told us that he was a private detective and that Robert Henderson had married the famous Hawaiian dancer Sue Parrish. As we continued ourjourney, Bob took a cold and went to the hospital for medicine and found the elevator girl to be Jeanetta Herndon. Jean- etta told Bob that Jeannene Nichols and her husband had been trying to inventachewing gum that would not pop. Jeanetta also said that Maudie Steen and her husband were living in Alaska with their twin boys and old pet hen. . When we arrived in Singapore we found Sid Jobs plowing rice with a water buffalo. Sid told us that Barbara Edmonds was operating abeauty shop in the city and that she had developed a formula for curling the toe nails. We went into a large restaurant to eat. We found the owner to be Oretha Witty and her chief cook to be Pat Johnston. She says the only trouble that she has with Pat is that he sleeps while he cooks. While we are eating we notice a newspaper by us, and upon glancing at it, we see that the President of the United States is having a vacation down on his farm in Almo, Ky. The President of the United States is none other than Herman Herndon a former class mate. As we leave Singapore on the last lap of our journey, we notice that the world's heavy weight rice eating contest is coming up soon between World's Champion Shirley Turner and Challenger Marjorie Wilkinson, two more of our old class mates. As Bob and I thought of the days gone by, we wondered what the next thirty-five years would bring, and we had lots to talk about. Sue Morrison--Bob Parrish I4
