l l me M--We-s :Moves 4 CLASS PROPHECY '25 The other day as I was sitting in bookkeeping class, trying to decide whether cash was debited and machinery was credited or whether machinery was debited and cash was credited, I dropped my pencil on the floor. In reaching down to get it, I struck my head on the desk, then everything went black. When I awoke, the date on the calendar was 1957. Who should have been teaching the bookkeeping class but my old classmate, Gretchen Hipsher. She was wearing hornrimmed glasses and a black dress that covered the most beautiful ankles in the class of '47. Gretchen said she was very happy and that she kicked all the kids out of class every day. Things started weavingg and when they stood still, I saw I was on the plains of Texas. A few yards away 'I saw a ranchhouse and who should be sitting on the front of it but Marjorie Howe. Marjorie was idly fanning herself with a cow's tail and singing Cow-Cow Boogie to her thirteen children. This was too much for me. The scene changed again-this time to the barren wastes of the South Pole. There I found John Watkin running a trading post for Admiral Byrd. When I was nearly frozen, the scene switched to a night club in Timbucktoo. Looking around I saw a man who looked familiar. Then I recognized him. He was none other than Wayne Spidel. Wayne told me he was owner, barkeeper and bus boy of his night club, The Morning After. He said that he had another classmate of ours working for him as his chief hula dancer-who else but Martha' Corrie. Martha was dressed in red spangles and white skin. Very chic! When I was about to enjoy myself, the scene changed again. This time to Patton, -Illinois. Looking up the road I saw a taxi. I tried to hail it, but it passed me up. I recognized the driver. He was none other than Bob Robinson. On the side of the taxi was a sign saying For YVomen Only and on the back another sign proclaimed No Men Allowed! Cursing the luck I started walking down the road. Things went blank again and I hit the ground with a thud. Looking about me I saw Jim Winter chasing a pack of dogs and the dogs chasing a coon. I stopped Jim, and he told me he owned sixty coon dogs and a woods with a coon up every tree. Just then one of the dogs took a nip at mc, and I jumped to escape him. Then Jim, the dogs, and the coon disappeared, and the scene changed to Timberville. Smelling whisky in the air I started walking toward a small woods where I thought it was coming from. When I arrived, I discovered a still operated by Carl Shepard and his wife, the former Kate Higgins. Carl told me the stuff he made was the best hog feed ever invented. Carl offered me a drink, and when I drank it, I started flying through the air. When I came to, I was very hot and saw fire rll around me. Looking around me I saw another old classmate, Don Burris. Don told me he was chief fireman in the navyg and if he stayed on the job, he would be an admiral in 99 years, It was so hot that I fainted. When I came to, I was in the gym at Browns, Illinois. Who should I see but Bill Wolfe. Bill said that he was third assistant coach, and in ten years he would get to touch the ball. Just then one of the boys shot the ball. It hit me on the head. I felt someone shaking me. I opened my eyes and saw Mr. Busenhart shaking me and saying that I had knocked myself out falling out of my seat. I realized it was only a dream, but you will have to admit that it was a good one.
