. Alas poor Yorick ... “That’s no way to act like a tree.” Dedication A man who has a profound effect upon the history of Alameda High School — its past, present, and future — is Mr. Lloyd Sisler. Since the theme of the 1965 Acorn concerns time — past, present, and future — it is fitting that the yearbook should be dedicated to our noted drama instructor. Each year Mr. Sisler produces and directs the Senior Play, the Christmas Pageant, and the All- School Play — (The last two are innovations which he brought to AHS). The advanced drama classes annually entertain the students at assemblies. Besides being in charge of the Dramatics Department, Mr. Sisler is also a capable pianist and vocalist. Mr. Sisler was born in Fresno, California, and he is a graduate of Fresno State College. He re- ceived his Master of Speech Arts Degree from the University of Southern California. He has taught drama at Alameda High School over a period of twenty-three years — from 1939 to 1946, and from 1949 to the present time. In the three-year interval he was a drama director of the Opera Workshop at San Francisco City College, but fortunately he returned to our faculty. Throughout his career as a teacher, Mr. Sisler has been widely praised for his ability to transmit his talents to his students. He has a respect for Alameda High School, its students, its faculty and its traditions. Successful actors and actresses who were at one time under Mr. Sisler’s direction include: Bill Schacht, Rick Besoyan, Phyllis Winger, and Tom Rosqui. There are numerous former pupils of Mr. Sisler’s who return to Alameda High to see the man whom they have grown to respect and admire so very much. The 1965 Acorn Staff, in behalf of the student body, is extremely proud to dedicate this yearbook to so able and respected an individual, Mr. Lloyd Sisler.
