A banquet for the members of the team was held at which time Alan King and Russell English were honored as the most valuable play- ers of the year. The lettermen of the team re- ceived gold football pins, while the other mem- bers of the team received tie clasps, each of the two gifts being given by the local merchants. The General Manager of the Pittsburgh Steelers was the speaker of the evening. At that time Mr. Houlahan invited the squad and members of the band to Pittsburgh to enioy the Pittsburgh Steeler- Chicago Cardinal game. You bet' Thats a familiar ex pression commonly used by Zelie Highs five whoopticnans cheerleaders to those who dont take English 'l2 Of course our teams work hard to win our games but you really have to give these gals credit for all the time they put into tions to go with them Then there are always the lost voices that go hand in hand with cheer ing They usually regain their normal voices lust in time to lose them again at the next game Our cheerleaders this year were Beverly Miller and June Larson who are seniors Patrnclo Hnmes and Arlene Keck rumors and Peggy Kung sopho more Juanita Palmer another lunior was also cheerleader for part of the year but because of an illness she was forced to drop out We miss her because she really helped out as a lunior cheerleader last year and during half of football Although they get no credit academically for their services these knds still go all out for Z H S Cheerleading not only requires a good pair of lunqs but a sense of humor too These four atom bombs really have all the requirements neces ary to be good cheerleaders All . .
