Two or three years will be required to develop the latter sport on a competitive basis. The 1956 baseball team placed second in W 95, C. O. L. competition, winning 60 percent of its regular games. Golf attracts a small but mighty crew who, in the spring of '56, chalked up 8 wins and a tie out of 12 matches. In the C. O. L. tourney the ZHS team placed thirdg in the Eastern District matches, second. Intramural competition, gym training, and noon play indoors and on the blacktop courts touch most students personally. 1271

The fired-up Newark eleven dampened Z.H.S. hopes for the C.O.L. title. The next week we closed the season by trouncing Dover, 53-0, gaining a tie for the C.O.L. crown. Seniors lost by graduation are: Dan Boetcher, Arnold Gasper- sohn, Earl Miller, Bill Baughman, Mike Ericksen, Jim Pickrell, John Watson, Roy Thornton, Tom Hardesty, Carl Norris, and Don Zlaazfddlli The Z. H. S. reserve football team played a perfect season, going through its schedule unmarked by defeat.
