Y 1 . Straight from a parade of stars comes Sandra Ozment, sophomore beauty con- testant, as she glides through the Har- vest Moon . CAboveD Maids Vie in Contest A dozen Tribe lovelies vied for honors in the annual Beauty Contest, sponsored by the Otyokwa. Autumn was the contest's theme, The girls stepped through an outlined full moon to parade before judges and a large audience. Appearing in formal attire and school clothes, contestants were judged both on poise and natural beauty. A talented group of student entertainers kept the pro- gram going at an enjoyable rate. Jo Menges, chosen Ysleta's most beautiful girl, received a bouquet of roses from Elaine Hanna, mis- tress-of-ceremonies, and appears on a feature page of this yearbook. A stair case overflowing with feminine beauty is displayed, CBelowJ Q E Br Elaine Hanna, mistress of ceremonies, kept things going smoothly throughout the pro gram and climaxed it by announcing the win- ners. fllelowl 11 K X? Alain Tribe Multitude journeys to Abilene For Bi-District Tilt After winning the District l-AAAA football championship, the grid team and the Student Body prepared to meet the undefeated Abilene Eagles in bi-district com- petition. Abilene became the tilt's host town by the flip of a coin, so Indians battled the District 2-AAAA Champs 465 miles from home the day after Thanksgiving, The chartering of two buses for spectators plus the making of the journey by the band and a crowd of fans swelled the Indian cheering section to approximately 500. A week long drive by the Student Council added support to the team's venture. How- ever, an Eagle squad which went on to win their third consecutive state championship overwhelmed the maroon and white eleven 42-6. 'mf .mg 'Du av The Lost Carol lBelowl A i 1 l fi This wooden lndian isn't so dumb as you may think. lAbovel Ending the annual Christmas assembly, the Choir and Student Body sing carols around the flag pole. lAbovel Student Council puts up the Christmas tree in the lobby and to add to the yuletide spirit snow is falling outside. lAt rightl Yuletide Seasoned by School Choir, Parties Songs, trees, gaiety-all most memorable parts of the Christmas season blended to form school festivities preceding the two-week Yuletide vacation. A multitude of class parties during the last day of school set the stage for a fun-filled holiday season. Providing an inspiring and enjoyable climax for final day activities was a musical assembly presented by the Varsity Choir, band, and the Glee Club. Student Council members provided true service with a smile as they combined a party with the decorating of the Christmas tree in the lobby.
