Since that time, he has taught us to be proud of knowl- edge, to thirst for learning, and to try and answer the many questions in our lives. Through his thoughtful guidance and genuine .interest in the young people, he has served both the community and the students of York High School loyally and well. He has been both a personal friend and advisor to many of us. In the days to come, we shall miss this old philosopher but we shall not forget him. To you, Mr. Miller, this yearbook is dedicated. 2 .,,. 1. ,,. .i.y.:., .I , 1--:gf 'C:::g,1 r.1'.1g,5 --.. ,,.. -W U. :Ji I. ' tty 1 5 s , lx t. :. 4. Then came the amazing announcement that Leslie Hill is to make his Hollywood debute in Meet Corliss Archer . He is to play the part of Dexter, now isn't that strange It was also announced that the battle for the role of Corliss in the play had finally been won by Mary Ann Burk, who had really wanted the part. It seems they're doing what they always talked about. This made me want to look into the past and see what the rest of my classmates have been doing, so I decided to take a private plane and look them up. Upon arriving at the air-strip my airplane stewardess greeted me and it turned out to be none other than Diane Deppen, from my old class. She told me that upon graduation she entered an air line school and is now employed by TWA World Airlines. She seated me comfortably and the pilot came back to greet me, Pat Leber! We had a nice talk about the old days, then he told me what he had heard about my old school chums, and that he had gotten in touch with Dianne and decided to let me charter his plane, with her as my stewardess. I told them to go first to Texas, as I'd heard Lorraine Weisz was now living there. Once there I learned of her marriage to the Governor of the State. She is now raising her large family in that Large State of Texas. She was also boasting about the whole thing. I stopped to refuel my plane in Montgomery, Alabama and found my fuel man to be none other than Bill Heal. He told me he owned several companies now, and lives in Alabama with old friends. They are Joe Risner, now head basketball coach at Montgomery University. Joe explained he uses his mathematical brain in his basketball plays. And Gary Lee, now owner of the famous Lee Bakeries, world famous for their baked goods. Gary told me after working at that bakery after school, he just couldn't give it up. I bade them farewell and decided to go to Florida and look up Barb Brown. Sure enough she was there in Tampa, running a small street cafe. She finally de- cided to settle down in one state. I told her what I was doing and she said Mary Schiller was in Miami. I flew on to Miami and found Mary teaching English at an all boys private school there. It figured! She told me Darlene Norman sent her post cards quite often, since she moved to Hawaii. I flew on to Hawaii and found Darlene at her fashion shop in Honolulu. She is now designing clothes for the,Hawaiian Eye television series. She travels quite a bit and was recently in Bellevue and Clyde visiting some of the 'old gang. She paid a visit to Jim Missler who is now in Indiannapolis racing, so I left immediately to see the race. He was driving a Super jet , which he designed himself. He told me he is doing exactly what he has always wanted to do and I wished him luck, and flew on to Clyde and Bellevue. There were still several of the old gang in the township I wanted to see. My first stop was a visit paid to Gerry Verhoff to see those triplets I had heard so much about. They were being watched by their father. I wonder who is the boss in this family? Then Mrs. Verhoff entered and it turned out to be the former Beverly Kudro, she did get the six girls she wanted. The family doctor arrived and it was none other than Dan Richmond. I was greatly surprised and asked Dan why he chose this profession, and he said after the play, he took the part of a doctor seriously. On my way into Bellevue, to look up some more of the gang, I noticed a sign advertising Moyer's Chicken Farm, proprietor, Shirley Moyer. I can 'I3 Class Will Article I ITEM I: We, the graduating class of 1962, being of shallow minds and haggared bodies, do leave to the not-so-able-bodied students who are, unfortunately, follow- ing in our footsteps, the echo of all those arguments and disagreements that took place in home room, and to next year's seniors, we leave the pleasure of spying on the juniors to see if they can find out what the theme of the Prom is. I, I, 1, 1, I I r D Class Prophecy lcontj easily remember Shirley's remarks that she would never become a chicken owner . Well she must have changed her mind. Of all things there in front of me was none other than Chris Hayward. I yelled at her from the car window and she said she owned her own farm now and was happily married, raising a family. On the tractor with her was one of the kids a little red-head, with natural curly hair. That's Red for you. I got in touch with Carol Wagner, near Thompson High School, she did marry her guy from there, and they are now on the school board. She always was an avid fan of Thompson, and now doesn't give York a second thought. Oh, well! I bade everyone there, farewell, and flew on to Columbus to see an engage- ment of the well know Happy Wanderers. The one and only Miss Arlene Stucky is the leader of this well-known group. Their opening was really enjoyable and afterwards I rushed back stage to get an autograph of this old time friend. I also stopped by at the State Fair and found Tom Stimson, still teaching square dancing. His star student, turned out to be Joyce Smith, didn't that figure! I wonder if that's wedding bells I hear in the back ground. I'm sure that's what Tom Wants, come on joyce give in this time. Before leaving for home, I inquired as to the whereabouts of Rog Gerhard- stein. I was told he did graduate from Annapolis and is now stationed in Washing- ton, D.C. I made a quick trip there to find him working as a chauffer for the President. I had a short visit with him, and he told me he is still working his way to the Presidency. Good luck! Well I'm now on my way home to Arabia and hope to have a peaceful trip. Oh no! The gas tank is empty. I've been informed by the pilot, I have to jump, her goes! s-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ol ---- o ---- n ---- g See you in the Mediterranean!!! I5 G Class History On the day of September 5, 1958 we, twenty-five eager Freshmen entered the halls of York High School. Waiting to meet us in our homeroom with a big smile of assurance was our class sponsor Miss Aigier. We got right down to business and elected our class officers, with Shirley Moyer, president, Les Hill, vice- presidentg Mary Ann Schiller, secretary, Lorraine Weisz, treasurerg and joe Risner, Student Council representative. Through the rest of our high school days we were to carry with us our class motto of To Thine Own Self Be True . Next September we were back again ready to go as Sophomores, all twenty- two of us. Man with all the power was joe Risner with jim'Missler close by. Keeping our valuable records was Mary Ann Burk. Darlene Norman guarded our millions while Shirley Moyer voiced our opinions in Student Council. Backing us all the way was our class spon'sor Miss Woessner. This year we found ourselves as twenty-one juniors. Our first highlight of that year was the big success of our junior Play, Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House , due only to the good-ole sense of humorof Mrs. Zanger. Later on that year Miss Woessner's patience was really put to a test as we converted the gym into a ballroom for our junior-Senior Prom Sweethearts Ball . This proved to be a lot of work but the winning compliments we received from everyone really made it worth while. This was also the year we were delighted at the arrival of a small package containing our beautiful class rings. We chose our class flower the Red American Beauty Rose . To make money for our trip to Washington D.C . we sold candy, put on dances, bake sales and car washes. Heading all the many activities was Rodger Gerhardstein assisted by Leslie Hill. The pencil work was taken care of by Shirley Moyer, while Darlene Norman and Mary Ann Burk took care of our loot. Gerry Verhoff presented our brilliant ideas to the Student Council, with Chris Hayward right behind him. This year we entered the halls of York as twenty-two Seniors for our last year. Once again we have Miss Woessner as our class sponsor. Leslie Hill is our ma.n for president with jim Missler to take over in case of an emergency. Shirley Moyer is still pushing the pencil, while Gerry Verhoff and Mary Ann Burk are taking care of the treasury department. joe Risner and Dan Richmond are the lucky fellows for Student Council. Things are really going fast this year with Senior pictures, presenting our Comedy of Meet Corliss Archer , under the direction of Miss Aigler, all the frm of Prom night, ordering our beautiful invitations and name cards and our exciting trip to Washington D.C. Then comes the day we have all been waiting for GRADUATION! As we will soon walk up to the platform in our caps and gowns of royal blue and white to leave our high Ti school days behind, we realize the time has come all too soon. But proud and happy are we to say that we were all a part of York High School.
