DEDICATION We, the Class of 1960, to show our appreciation, wish to dedicate this 1960 Talisman to a man who has given generously and cheerfully his time and efforts. He always cooperated to the utmost that could be asked of any person. This man is Walter Phelps, the school custodian. Walter ' s efforts could be seen every morning when we came to school, the rooms were spotless and no dust was left to be seen. He spent many hours in the evenings waiting for our activities to end, and not one of us heard him complain. While we were away for our summer vacations, Walter was busy repairing those battle scars we left there the previous term. To you Walter Phelps, please accept this dedication we give you with our deepest sincerity, because you have earned it. Again we say, Thank you, Walter.

As a tribute to the TALISMAN, we the class of 1960 would like to use as our foreword the editorial written by Leland Ross for the first TALISMAN, published in 1924. As the last class to graduate from the York Local High School, the Seniors of 1960 have put forth great effort to pub- lish this TALISMAN. When we consider that high school days are coming to a close it is with bright hopes for the future yet not without profound regret. Therefore it is our wish that in years to come each page will act as a charm to help recall those finest associations at York.
