HISTORY OF THE I960 SENIOR CLASS In September of 1956, 22 green freshmen started high school at York Local High School. Miss Vera Dull, Home Economics teacher, was the class ' s faculty sponsor. The class started earning money for that class trip which would come in three years. That year the class sponsored a cake raffle at one of the basketball games. Numerous class parties were held during that year. On the last day as freshmen, the class took a trip to Zanes Caverns, near Bellefontaine, Ohio. Twenty-one members started the Sophomore year, and again Miss Dull was the faculty sponsor. That year the class served the St. Valentine ' s Day Dinner and sponsored a cake raffle tetween halves of one of the basketball games. The class was very busy during the Junior year. Miss Monica Mushinskl, English and French teacher, was the class faculty sponsor. That November, the class presented Shy Guy, a three act comedy, very capably directed by Miss Mushlnski. In December, 1958, the class served the traditional Christmas Dinner, assisted by their faithful mothers. On May 8, 1959, the class enter- tained the Senior class by giving the annual Junior-Senior Banquet. The last day of the Junior year, the class participated in the school field day and that evening enjoyed a picnic supper and drive-in movie. The Senior year had been long awaited by the class. Mrs. Lucretia Brandt, English and French teacher, was the faculty sponsor. Some of the fund raising projects were magazine sales, basketball game concessions, carnival, co-sponsored with the publications workshoppers, and the 1960 Talisman. On May 21, the Junior class entertained us by serving the annual Junior-Senior Banquet at the Clemens Building, Lima, Ohio. Finally the much anticipated moment arrived, commencement. Two days later, the class left on the trip to New York and Washington D. C. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Jones accompanied the class as chaperones. Now the class is no longer one unit as it was from 1956 till 1960. Some of the members may return for the Alumni Banquets, while others may never have the opportunity to do so. But the class will never forget the knowledge and enjoyment received while it attended the red brick schoolhouse, one-quarter mile south of Jonestown, Ohio.
